ixtreme 1.5 vs 1.4 question..

I have flashed my older liteon benq with ixtreme 1.4 last year. Do I have to reflash with 1.5 now? If so can I still use Iprep v006 and can I just load the new 1.5 over the 1.41 as per video tutorial. thanks

use the new firmtool to create 1.5 with your key in it, and flash it in the same way you did before...

I haven't had to try this yet, but some the guys have said that this doesn't work if you try it in vista, so if you have that, go for DOS firmtool (from Iprep)...

you'll need to update the def file for Iprep for 1.5

I flashed an ms25 and a benq the other day with 1.5 took me a sec to figure out but its not that hard. this is the way I successfully flashed mine I am in no way responsible for your equipment or anything that could go wrong. I used a VIA VT6421A PCI card and a team-xecuter connectivity kit v2. I coppied the DosFlash instructions from Klutsh.

this is what i did for the benq drive.

1: get the ixtreme 1.5 fw and ixDef_1.5-ixtreme from xbins
2: get the iPrep 101 v008 Pro [Beta] and install it.
3: copy the ixDef_1.5-ixtreme to this location "C:\Program Files\iPrep 101\Resources" (this lets iprep recognize the 1.5 ixtreme fw)
4: run iPrep
  • select the 1.5 ixtreme firmware
  • select the drive letter of your USB thumbdrive
  • check "make bootable"
  • then click "prepare destination" (if you get an error here try disable your floppy drive in the windows device manager then run it again)
(also I think you might need to change the BenQ-CFW.bin to Ben-CFW.bin, for some reason iPrep names it different than Klutsh's DosFlash instructions)

4.1: if you already have your orig.bin then name it Ben-OFW.bin and put it in the root of your thumbdrive. continue through to step 5 then go to step 8
4.2: after i shut down my computer I unplug my dvd drive an hdd, plug in the ckv2 to the xbox drive, but i leave the sata cable unplugged just from the xbox drive for now. power on the ckv2, power on my computer.
5: Boot to the USB stick
6: To Dump your drive type "DosFlash" (Without quotes) at the C:\
6.1: Follow onscreen guide
6.2: name your firmware "Ben-OFW.bin"
7: To Backup your firmware type "copy Ben-OFW.bin BACKUPS\ANYNAMEYOUWANT.bin"
8: To patch your firmware type "FirmTool Ben-OFW.bin Ben-CFW.bin
9: To Flash your Firmware type "DosFlash"
10.1: Follow onscreen guide (if you have to resend the request, switch the ckv2 into mode b and turn it off then on an you should get the magic unlock message then hit y for yes to unlock then you will be able to select the port to flash)(I had to switch it on and off a few times till I got the unlock message)
10.2: The file you want to flash is "Ben-CFW.bin"

I am comfortable with using iprep. So I have to create another iprep bootable thumbdrive with 1.5 fw and then insert my OFW file into the thumbdrive folder. do I still have to dben with the 1.4 and then fben with 1.5?

i have not done one yet
but
that is the next thing on my to do list is a update to vix v1.5 with iprep v6.2

im thinking it will be just like flashing over any other old firmware.

just start from the beginning like the console was stock.
build your iprep
boot on it
dump
then flash.

cofree, I was thinking gthe same..so Im just going to pretend the 1.4 fw is original and write over it like it was stock just like your video correct? I am using iprep v006. Should I update to iprep v008? should I just wait for you to update the definitions, if not how do I do it for 1.5?

thanks

make sure you are using v6.2
then under tools> check for update
and it should find a updated def file and install it.
if you give me about 30 mins
i should have updated mine and will let you know how it goes. ;)

ok
it does update benq perfect
i did have to manually update the def file.
you can read about that here.
viewtopic.php?f=110&t=358" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

you can get the iprep v006.2 here
viewtopic.php?f=112&t=48" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and
you just do ever thing again
boot on the flash
dump the drive
let firmtool build the hacked firmware
then flash it in just like the other benq updates.

yes it should be the same process, except the samsung was easier for me to get it into mode b, I had to turn the benq drive on and off until i got the magic unlock.
