Hi,
First i must say Great forum/website.

I have a defective ms25 drive(it was flashed back in 2006) and i have a backup of the original firmware.
I've bought a new ms28 drive and put it directly into the console and it read only dvd movies and no original nor backup games. (i've figure it out that it's normal)

I've tried different tutorials but whithout luck. Spoofing the original firmware to ixtreme v1.5 and flash it with dosflash.
also tried older firmware using samtool orig.bin xtrem52b.bin and flash it with dosflash.
All whithout errors, but still plays only dvd movies.

Can someone help me.

Thanks

ok, what you need to do is open your original MS-25 firmware with firmware toolbox, copy the key from it. Then open your MS-28 firmware and paste the me-25 key in and save it. Then spoof. Then flash. Done. You actually don't even need to spoof it. The 360 will accept the upgrade from a ms-25 to a ms-28 with no problems.

Wow! that's fast :) Thanks

With "MS-28"you mean an original MS-28 firmware i assume?
And then i spoof the MS-28 firmware to a custom ixtreme?

You already have you ms-25 firmware. Just open it with firmware toolbox and copy the key. Then dump the MS-28 drive and open the firmware from it. Past the key in and hit the button just to the right of the key box. That will save the key into that ms-28 firmware.

Then you can take the ms-28 firmware and run it through the make custom firmware batch file and create your hacked firmware. Then you just need to flash it with that hacked firmware and you'll be set.

you can get the v28 hacked firmware that you want
open that with firmware toolbox put your key in that
and
flash it in as a restore.
and it will be ready to go.

still not working.

I think i've mixed up the console with a other mainboard. (i've tried to fix a couple months ago 2 xbox consoles with rrod, whithout success) and now i'm trying again and the rrod is fixed, but i think i have a mainboard from the other console where also was defective drive.
Is it possible to fix this somehow?

Thanks

Yeah, that would complicate things a little. You need the DVD key that goes to that mother board to fix that. Without that, you've got a DVD player and thats it.

The serialnumber at the backside of the console is that number also somewhere on the mainboard?

Yeah, It should be on a white sticker somewhere on the motherboard.

Update:
I have the original ms25 drive and the mainboard and i flashed the original firmware to it, and still no games.
I've also flashed it with jungle flasher. still nothing.
Are there any other options that i'm doing wrong?

thanks

well, if it will read movie DVD's but not games, original or backup, then it has to be something thats DVD key related. If the key is wrong, then it won't play original games or backups, it will just say please insert this game into an xbox 360 to play it or something similar. You got to make sure that key is right man.
