MS28 flash problem

Post by xndrxw »

I followed cofree's video on youtube (Iprep v008 6 dump flash xbox 360 Samsung drive) I do the dSam xxxxxxx xxxxx power off the drive power it on hit 6 for my drive then get to the part where you enter r then samofw.bin it goes through fine. Firmtool starts up and i get:

firmtool v1.3.1 by caster420
-------------------------------------------------------------------------{TJ}{360MODS}

*** No valid key found! ***
Check the key range of BACKUPS\XXXXXXX\XXXXX\SamOFW.BIN.
C:\

This drive is a replacement drive for my system that I just bought. I finally managed to flash the firmware onto the dvd drive and to the hacked one even with the problem listed above, I managed to dump it somehow over the last 4 hours of dinking around with the system. I hook it all back up go to check if it will read my backup and it goes to the dvd saying to put the disc in a xbox 360 so i put in the original game same thing happens. Any idea on what to do?

A replacement drive will not have a valid key. Without the right key in you 360 drive it will only play dvd movies and no games. You need to dump the frimware out of the 360 dvd drive that came with it.
Make sure you get a good key. It should say valid key and frimware ready to flash or something like that. Do not flash!!!! You need to check key in toolbox. Make sure all the numbers and letters are not the same.
If the key is good. Make sure you save your key on your computer in more than one place. Now you can change to your replacement drive. Reboot on your iprep usb flash drive and you can now flash your replacement drive.

Do not flash your org. 360 driver!!!!!

you are close man
it sounds like you got a dump and was able to flash it in.but
the"cfw" that you flashed in does not have your console dvd drive key in it.
that is what firmtool does .
it takes the key from your "ofw" and builds a "cfw" that you flash in your 360.

you have to dump your orig dvd drive and get the key.
then as long as you are using the same model dvd drive you can just flash the "cfw" in
but if you are using a different model dvd drive you are also going to have to spoof the firmware.
just let us know what you need
and
we will try to help you out. ;)

The original drive I have is a liteon drive. I bought the samsung drive because at the time it was not possible to flash the liteon drives yet. So I am guessing I will need to buy the connectivity kit to dump the key off the liteon drive? Will there be any way to use this samsung drive once thats done? I will order the connectiviy kit or whatever else is needed once I get a reply. Thanks for the help.

yeah, you'll need to get a CK3 or a Xtractor 360 in order to get the files that you need from the lite-on. One of two things needs to happen here in order for this to work. You either need to mod the lite-on drive or you need to dump the lite-on drive, get the DVD key and then put that key into the firmware from your samsung drive and then spoof it to a lite-on and flash it.

Personally, If I were going to order a CK3 or an xtractor, I'd just mod the lite-on.

I just ordered the CK3. The reason I bought the Samsung drive is to save my liteon if i screwed up the flash and also I was told that the Samsung drives are the best for reading dvd+rdl media.

Samsungs and Benq's are both pretty good drives. lite-ons in my experience are pretty good too, but I think CoFree might have the opposite to say about that.

So what do you think cofree? Spoof the samsung drive or just use the liteon? What do you do to spoof the samsung?

right now man
you would just use jungle flasher to build you a v28 hacked firmware with your dummy bin that was made.
that has been given the 100% by those better than I

i would try the lite-on first.
i think that would be better on live but if it will not read good then yea spoof in a good old v28 drive.

Ok I got my kit in the mail today. I soldered the points together for the liteon and I am trying to flash it but everytime I do it, it says dvd key invalid. I have all 4 points soldered. Is only the right 2 needed, when the drive is upside down with connectors facing the bottom? I am on msn if someone would like to help. xndrxw@live.com I have two pcs set up trying to do this.

Ok only the r707 points are soldered. Same thing comes up in iprep. I am using the xecuter kit with the cable in my com2 port, I have tried it in 1 and 2. I redownloaded all the software and the bios files to make sure it wasnt that and it still says DVD-Key is Invalid! Any ideas?
