Hey guys, I have a friend who wants to burn some backups, he has a SONY DVD RW AW-G170A burner he also has a LG Super DVD Drive Model GSA-H20N this ones says DL on it. He would like to know before wasting a vertabim which here it cost like 250 buck JA. Do you think either one will work, he is more confident in the Sony being that its newer regardless of the LG saying DL on it.

most all DL burners will work fine.
all you can do is try.
burn slow no faster than 2.4x

Ok thx, but cofree do u think the Sony would work? I know try, but 1 dvd cost $250.00 Jamaican. thats about $4.00 USD.

Wow thats a lot. But like he said there is only one way to tell. If you have burned other things with it there is a very, very good chance it will be fine. Start out at 2.4x no need to rush it.

i use a sony to burn my backups with.

yeah long as you burn it right and have a good rip of the game, then almost any dl burner will suffice.

My friend had a iso of a game, not sure where he got it, he gave it to me and i patched it up and keron checker and it said good keron rip. The burner that i have burnt it flawlessly, I actually used it in a flashed 360 and it worked. My problem is, when I insert a game it reads in windows, opened xbcreator it reads but when i go to the drive tools tab it doesn't give the option to unlock drive. What am I doing wrong? I also tried with XDVDMulleter doesn't work.

Any suggestions??

well that pretty much means we want be talking about that here.

That's fine, i dnt info pertaining to the iso that was given to me. I have The original copy of forza and want to dump it but when i load it up in xbcreator the drive tool doesn't lit up the unlock drive option. Sry if i posted a bit mixed up...

You can write the games with pretty much any DL writer. But to read the games you need either:-

-a KREON drive (Samsung SH-D162x drive flashed with Kreon firmware)
-a Samsung or Benq 360 drive flashed with 0800 firmware.

There is a hotswap method using a program called WXRipper, but it's not something many of the guys here use. I certainly couldn't help you with it, never touched it. But I know there is a guide for it here somwhere

Yeah i read that tut and I'm doing some experiments on it. I had a dvd rom drive that i dnt really use so i opened it up. I got wxripper to load a dl movie stopped the spin on the drive, took out the movie and inserted the game closed the drive and start spin. I got the notepad file and changed the third (3rd) line letter from C to D then saved the file, load it up into wxripper then start dump, it dumps the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines, after that the 4th stops about half way then it jumps to the 5th line and dumps that and the 6th is left untouched and the last line. Any suggestions?

Could it be the type movie i'm using?? I'm using "Alexander-Director's Cut"

I applaud anyone whose doing the wxRipper stuff. That's such a crazy way of backing up a game when you can just flash the samsung drives with the kreon fw. But hey by any means necessary. Isn't that kind of the point of this whole site.

backing up by hot swap is a bad way of doing ti
yes
it will work most of the time.
but
you should never fully trust that iso.
even after it has been fix or stealth patched
