Robin Hoods Playground

So my boss asked me to calculate my free time so that I could help out with some other stuff...what the hell kind of question is that? You invariably come out looking like you're either A) trying to sound like you have too much to do or B) screwing yourself into extra work. Little did that jackass know I had just defeated the High Council at Travinical and was on my way through the Durance of Hate to Mephisto. So how much free time do I have? Well, that depends. If I don't get some solid time in at work fighting the evil forces that are the hellspawns of the Diablo world, then who's going to defend us? So maybe when I finally give him an answer, I'll tell him to think about that and leave me alone.

yea that sounds like a trick question if ever there was one.

well i would tell him that
i will get on the calculation of my free time as soon as i could
but
being that i could only work on a project like that in my free time
it was going to be a undetermined amount of time before I could get those figures back to him.

Yeah, "Seeing as how I want to be as productive as I can, I'll do those figures in my free time." Then when he asks where those figures are, "I haven't had the free time to do the calculations."

Everywhere I've ever worked has been like that man. Nobody likes it, but sometimes, you have to do what you have to to keep the boss happy. Come up with something that will allow you to spend some time on other projects, but still leave time for defending the world of evil!! A happy medium if you will

I highly recommend movie called "Office Space" to u all, it shows the corporate work environment, mobbing and ways to get promotions.

Update: I told him after careful deliberation that I could probably offer an extra hour per day to work on some extra stuff. Ugh...I did just beat Diablo tho so I guess I have a little time before starting nightmare difficulty

That does suck man. At least your boss asks you about your free time, my boss is a Sergeant Major and when he says something has to get done it doesn't matter if I only get four hours of sleep that night the shit had better be done. The Army may have it's benefits but concern about a soldiers free time isn't one of them.
