Well guys I am having a bad damn night.
It can/will happen to anyone.

I was messing around with a new lite-on dvd drive getting ready to shoot the next iprepv8.8 video.
This is a new lite-on that i had never dump/flash before. So i dont have the key or any of the file for that matter.
I started Doing a run through and I put the "F"in power plug in up"F"in side down. :o
It was very easy. unreal that it just plugged in no trouble.
This is with a probe power from a ck3 pro.

I turned on the power on the ck3 kit
and was looking around to see how the video was going to look.
I did not even know that it was wrong till the smell hit my nose.

and by then it was to late.
All the magic smoke was gone. :D

It burned the r207 bad.
I have done my home work and found a few thing on this and tried them but it will not dump/eject or anything.
I know its a 0 ohm resistor. and jumped it with a small wire but no love from the dvd drive.

Guys I'm just posting this to get the word out.
Please take your time and make sure of your work.

If this post help even one person then
I do see a light at the end of the "F"in dark tunnel.

Just for the record this is a first for me.
I have made a mistake or two but I was always able to recover the console.

Well
If you are going to make a mistake make it a big one.
So maybe it will all get out of your system.

Damn I'm having a bad night.
Time to kill people in "COD" :D :D

Sorry to hear that cofree. I'm always hesitant turning the ck3 on when I hook it up. I used a sharpie and colored the top of the connectors so I know how to plug them in but even then I always triple-check the connector before doing so. I also use scotch tape to hold down the molex and usb cables so nothing moves lol. Anyways, your ck3 is ok and only the lite-on drive was affected?

I think there is a small difference with this dvd drive.
It just went right in like normal.

I've noticed some physical differences with the lite-on myself. I use a sata cable that has a little clip thats supposed to latch when you attach it, and it does latch with hitachi's, samsungs and benq's. But it will not latch with lite-ons for what ever reason. The connectors on these drives are made a little different. So I think the power cable is easy to plug in upside down.

Sorry that it happened to you though CoFree. I know you know how to handle that though :D

How do you know witch way is the right way to put in ? :? I`ve used a connectivity kit 2 with no
problems so far. I am still waiting on my ck3 and probe, need to check and see when I order it.

There are two raised ridges on the sides and the top of the power plug(s) for the CK3.
You need to make sure you can see the raised ridges on the top as you plug into the drive.
If you do not see those ridges on the top, then you need to turn it over.

Check it again and triple check it!
It does not hurt to do that because most of us in the states know that the places we get these tools from aren't always right down the street.

Also, for those who may be wondering... when you plug the power cable from the motherboard of the 360 itself back into the drive, make sure that the side where the are no wires is always on your right hand side!
If you don't know what that means, there are many tutorials out there will show you how the drive and power plug look with pictures.

I just had a drive come through here this week where the guy tried to mod it himself and *POOF* it went up in smoke and bricked the drive. Key is unreadable and you couldn't even use a "chillfix" solution to solve his problem.
Yup, he needed a new 360.

Be careful and if you aren't sure, leave it to the pros.
It will cost less in the long run.

Very wise words, worthy of following. But in my book CoFree is a pro.

the drive is diffrent so you can put the cable in upside down very easy. checked it out right now but the best thing to do in to cheack and make sure your cables are right and or you can put a mark on the cable so you know which way is up.

well some of the problem is
with the lite-on you have the dvd drive open and upside down, so of course
the plug would need to be turned over.
and
yes
it seems to go in the lite-on easy when its wrong
