i got this xbox from a friend and it only plays dvd and cds but no games can this be fix with a new flash wht do i need to do to fix this problem...please help....its a toshiba samsung drive....

Sounds like its been flashed without a valid key,and without a back-up of the key there`s not much you can do.

could i possibly change out the drive can this be done and can it fix in any way???

No, without the key from the original drive you have a DVD player

ok guys i just found out this....ok my friend right? has a xbox 360 and then all of a sudden his drive wasnt able to play the games for some reason so what he did was he replaced the drive with a new one...so he just swap the drive and destroy the old one can i now fix this...i think in order for it to be fixed he needs the orignal drive right? any way to fix this or flash this..its a toshiba/samsung....please help all

you can replace a dvd drive that has went bad.
but
you have to have the key from that orig dvd drive firmware
as long as you are putting in the same kind of drive then you just have to input the orig key in the new firmware and flash it.
but
if you are using a different dvd drive than what was in the console orig then you have a little more you have to do
you have to put the orig key in the firmware
but also you have to spoof the new firmware so it will report to the console that it is the dvd drive it is replacing.

but i dont have an original firmware of some sort ...so it can be saved then? if so can you lead/ point me to the right direction please...maybe a tutarial for this ...if so..thanks

if you dont have the orig firmware(or at least the key)
then that console is bricked.
it will only be able to play dvd movies.
