Cant boot with iprep

Post by Username »

i have i benq drive that i want to flash but im stuck at early stages,

i made my usb stick a bootable drive with the latest iprep101 with the benq FW.

i tried to boot my pc with it just to see if it works and i got this message

'starting windows 98
there is not enough memory for windows. remove some drivers from your CONFIG.SYS file and then try again'

this manual shows me wat files i should have in the usb
http://caster420.360mods.net/VAD6038/Be ... Manual.pdf

i have some different. i thought it might be because i was using the latest version of iprep?

can anyone help?

thanks

it donr look like you have the boot drive set up right.
look over this.

and there is a video guide
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=277

try a different flash or a floppy disc.

after you do the dump/read reboot to windows and make a copy of the backup folder

you click the small box to the right and then pick your orig firmware and it will load
ill try to get a guide for that up tomorrow

i understand now.
i dont need to check the hacked.bin do i?

if my orig.bin key is ok i reboot with iprep and continue to flash (fben)

ok one more noob question. do i use my serial or 1234567 12345? coz on all the video tutorials thats whats used and it works?

thanks

* after the drive keys are copied and it tells me that its ready to flash, is it safe to turn of the 360? so i can boot to windows and check the key.

you only need to check the orig bin not the hacked bin
you want to use your ser number not the 1234567 12345.i did that not to put my ser # out there for all to see.alot of good that did when my key is there (i know)
after the hacked bin is builted then yes power everything dowm restart the computer and check your orig bin for a good key
then start over but this time do the flash

your close

let us know how it goes.

i got a question related to this, dont want to do a new tread,, i will just post here,,

i have the same proablem,, i cant boot from usb!
i have benq vad6038 i use iprep 101 v006 with win vista, i updated my chipset and controllers (w/ driver genius pro)
i use 4gb flash drive,,
okay i open iprep101 v006, load the benq firmware (rar.) ,(12x),, then on the flash/dos i have:
-via serial ata controller-3149 (mtkflash and dosflash compatible)
-via bus master ide controller-0571 (dosflash compatible only)
-ata channel 0 (dosflash compatible only)
-ata channel 1 same

so i choose the first one:-via serial ata controller-3149 (mtkflash and dosflash compatible) and i checked the box at sata info (patch mtkflash,,then choose my drive target (for me is "L" ) THEN check the box (format/make device bootable,,
and no errors ,,everyng went okay,,, so i checked to see whats on my drive i have 5 files:
folder-backups
folder-cfw
folder-tools
file-dben
fben
intro
rben
---that all on the drive !,,,turn off pc,,rebooot,,and booot from the flash drive and nothing starts,,,what do i m doing wrong,,?? please any help,, will be appreciate!,,
(check everything in bios ,,for the usb,,to be enable ,,everything is okay)

i follow everything video and books,,did resarch online about the issue i have ,,,
thanks
(the last pic is whats on the drive flash)

You should have started your own tread.
first im not sure about that card.this one works for sure.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm

i think something in your bios is not right.
Try building iprep on a floppy and boot on that floppy just for kicks.
At least you will know iprep is working right.

Usually the mother board is not the problem. Unless you are using an on board sata. If you are, Don't. You will waste a lot of time and then realize you need to buy one of the recommended sata cards (you can get one for like $12.00 usd. Definately try the floppy. If it works then just flash it that way. It doesn't have to be with a usb stick.

Oh, and make sure you have updated the "def" file.
