Basically a problem was found with random backups made using the Kreon flashed SH-D162C and similar drives that occasionally give an incorrect security sector. If you have one of these backups and play it online, MS could possibly detect the backup and ban your console from Xbox Live. This new firmware is supposed to fix that.

If the SS is good and you are using the latest ixtreme fw then you are as safe as you can be. This does not guarantee that you will not be banned. There is no fool proof method, we take our chances every time we hook our boxes up to live.

I'm not sure if you can play in different places without Live. I think you can just not sure how. We have done some research and if you are banned there apparently is ways you can still get your console updates. I role the dice and hope like hell the modding community knows their shit! I play originals online if at all possible. But if you must play a backup then make sure you have the latest fw and and check the security sector on the backup.

There will be a way to unban consoles soon, but it's very complicated. Who knows if it will be feasible enough for the average user to be able to use it or not. The method requires you to have an infectus chip and a timing attack mod to be able to do it from what I hear.

That is the drive installed in the computer for dumping games to the computer. This is a specific drive the you can order online that has fw that will allow it to read the 360 game files to a file on your computer.

You should be able to get it on ebay. Just do a search for that specific drive. A lot of them come with the fw already loaded, if not I think you can get the kreon fw from xbins.

the v100 is the newest.
but if all you can get is the v81 thats fine.
i have not did the update on both of mine 1 is v81 and the other is v100.
