I picked up an xbox hd dvd drive for free. Can I take it apart and flash the drive and use it to play backups? If so is there a tutorial on taking it apart? I believe it is a Toshiba Samsung drive. Just wondering what I could do with it because hey it was free and what did I have to lose. Thanks

You could always use it linked up to your pc to play HD movies (may require a driver update) depending on the spec of your computer. As cofree said there's nothing available as yet but they're worth hanging onto in case you come across any cheap hd movies.

They won't do anything besides play hd-dvd's and dvd's. You know since I got my PS3 and a couple of BD movies, I don't see any difference quality wise between the HD-DVD player for the 360 and the BD player on the PS3. What a let down that was. HD-DVD, a more affordable High Def solution loosing out to something that isn't any better and more expensive to boot. I think it was the storage space that done it though.
