Hi all

i have a motherboard that doesnt have its original dvd drive anymore
is there way of obtaining its ofw key off the motherboard so i can put a new drive on it ?
the xbox 360 didnt have its original drive in it when i got it

at the mo experimenting with different heatsinks to have the xbox run cool and stop the 3 red lights
been very successful with various heatsinks such the cpu one off the 360 which has ment the dvd drive as had to run outside the xbox so not practical but sucessful
i am at the mo testing an elite heatsink with a fan positioned above gpu extended heatsink mounted intop of case with circle cut out of the lid of the 360 with protection grill on top
this is the only seeable change i think is a small price to pay if it ensures no 3 red lights

will leave further info after vigerious testing :D

the added fan is drawing air in from the top over the added heatsink that is on the elite passing the air through to cpu and gpu main heatsinks and standard twin fans in the back drawing air out as normal
this seems to overcome problem of no airflow from front to back and moves the heat quicker from the gpu preventing it from reaching high tempretures in the first place

do feel i need to test longer before i open it and examine the thermal paste cause when successful the paste hasnt perished
and the 360 has run cool

wanting a happy 360

*EDIT*

If the drive doesn't have a valid key, the only way I know of obtaining the key from the 360 Mobo is a timing attack on the cpu. I have no idea how this works, I only know that it's difficult and few people have done it successfully. :(
