Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
When you are making your bootable usb drive or floppy with iPrep, be sure to right-click on iPrep and select "Run as Administrator", otherwise you will get an error. Other than that, follow the tutorials! Happy Flashing!
Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
This only applies to Vista by the way. Most any program of this nature will need to be run this way unless you turn off that security feature.

Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
Correct. I have a lot of trouble with certain programs because you HAVE to run as administrator.
Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
You can disable what I call the fat bastard. I call it that because it makes Vista more bloated, thus the fat part, and more annoying because you have to click yes, run the software, yes I trust it and then continue....... If your interested, I could try and find the link for you.

Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
Nah, I'm fine with it. When I first got Vista I tried installing Alcohol 120% and Vista had some warning come up and I ignored it. Ended up f*cking up my computer because the warning was about the program not being compatible with Vista yet.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
You should have started your own thread
-Have you installed the latest version of .NET Framework?? (Vista is shipped with v2 which should be fine, but it's worth a go)...
-Did you run as admin?? You have to, to use iPrep correctly.
Most of the guys here use XP for all their flashing needs. The only thing I can't do with Vista is a Lite-On
That's probably me, not vista though

Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
Yeah 64 bit vista is a little nastier than 32 bit vista. If any one has info on that don't hesitate to make a new thread.

Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
Can you use Jungle Flasher on vista 64 bit?
I know vista 64 bit doesnt allow for you to install unsigned drivers, but you can just manually sign the driver, and install it...

Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
I don't think you can... AFAIK PortIO is for 32 bit systems only.

Re: Flashing BenQ and Samsung with Vista
I thought it was 32 bit only due to the fact 64 bit will not let you install unsigned drivers? (I read some guide on signing PortIO, so you can install it on a 64 bit system)
This is where I read that:

Also, a "guide" for signing the Peer Guardian driver:
