hi, ran into problems with flashing my benq with iprep008
hi all
I wonder if anyone could offer me some assistance regarding a problem I am having flashing my benq drive.
I downloaded iprep006, which told me both types of sata I had on my motherboard were dos and mtkflash compatible, so i purchased a ck3 and last night tried flash the drive.
Using iprep008 I created the usb boot no problem, but when booting from this device I get to the C: prompt with the text above telling me to type dben xxxxxx xxxxx
However, on CoFree's video at this point he turns off the drive, closes it halfway and then turns it back on.. and then something happens on the screen without him typing anything.
When I do this, nothing happens... so I continue and type the dben command
At this point dosflash appears, and the computer hangs?
I have tried using both types of sata on my motherboard, I get the same result each time.
Luckily, I last week ordered a via sata card.. which I am taking delivery of today... so I suppose my question is when connected to the via card, when I power cycle the drive will it actually do something like it appears to do in CoFree's video?
I feel I am so close to getting this thing done, just need a little help to get over the line!!
many thanks

Yeah most of the problems with iprep are dut to not having the correct chipset. You could also try pushing the drive in slightly more than half way or using one of the earlier versions of iprep which didn't require you to eject the drive but i'd wait and try the card first and you should be up and running in no time. And you when you power cycle the drive it should continue with the dump and not hang.

thanks for the reply, but just to make sure I am clear... it appears on CoFrees video that as soon as he boots with the USB stick, he power cycles the drive and then something automatically happens.. he does not need to type anything? Is this right?

Hmm now i get ya. If you've followed the video and nothing happens type dben ******* ***** and then just follow the onscreen commands. I've been doing liteons lately and before that i was using an older version of iprep for benq's and i used to have to type in dben at the first screen. One of the other guys will confirm it though.

shit
no that is a bug in the video.it does skip a few sec of the video there.
ill try to get a new copy up soon.
after you boot up on your flash you have to input dben 1234567 12345
it will give you what to do on the screen.

now.. i swear I am jinxed with this box so I am offering my girlfriend and 1st born to anyone that can assist!!
I have just gone home to install the VIA card.. got a bit confused regarding all the driver options it gave me so I picked the one that looked the most recent, however now in device manager it is identified as as "VIA RAID Controller - 3249"
Have I installed it incorrectly? as should it not show "VIA 6241" ? It has the 6421 chip on the card as I checked before I installed it
I cant seem to install any other driver now, If I delete it under device manager it just reboots and automatically installs the 3249 driver again?!
I tried iprep when choosing this card, same effect as before.. hangs on dosflash
please help!!!

Re: hi, ran into problems with flashing my benq with iprep008
No thats spot on flamethrower. The latest via drivers name the card as a 3249. Are you using the intenal port on the via drive? (the one nearest to the front of your tower) Also check that you have raid disabled and legacy devices enabled in your bios. Maybe worth uninstalling iprep and redownloading it in case there was a problem with the instal or trying a different usb stick too. If you still have no joy you could use an older version of iprep with an updated .ixdef file to load the 1.5 firmware in.

Re: hi, ran into problems with flashing my benq with iprep008
well if you Dm does no have a yellow or red mark by the pci sata controller then that drive should be fine.
you have to be on the port inside of the computer
well i think the tek gem card only has one port.
have a look at this video its a older one for 8.6 but
it should show you the steps to take.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=3268" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
keep in mind that you will name the read file benofw.bin and the flash flie will be named bencfw.bin for the 8.8 iprep.

Re: hi, ran into problems with flashing my benq with iprep008
ok thanks guys
There is no red or yellow mark, so I assume the card is ok
I am using the internal port, there are 3.. one on the card to connect external devices... one on the top and on the back of the card.. I am using the one on the back of the card
when I get home I will check the bios
and then if necessary use the older version of iprep
are you guys going to be around in about 3hrs when I get home from work?

Yeah i probably will be. I normally lurk about here. Its the number 1 port you should be using.

Don't worry if your card doesn't specifically look like this though.

many thanks for your help so far, I will be home in a few hours so would be extremely grateful if you could help me to flash my drive!

Re: hi, ran into problems with flashing my benq with iprep008
no
you dont want to use the older iprep
if you cant get it 8.8
then 8.6 will be the same.
make sure your via card is in the drop down when you build your boot flash drive.
also
you have to build the flash on the same computer .
you can not build the boo t flash on one computer than use it on a different one.
it will boot but it will NEVER work.

Yeah the 8.6 uses nearly the same technique for dumping. The older version i used was 101 008 beta which didn't require you to turn the drive off etc and used dosflash commands but you'll be fine using 8.8 it's just being awkward with you.

Re: hi, ran into problems with flashing my benq with iprep008
ok just got home and tried the following
1. set legacy mode on in bios (it was called compatibility mode)
2. uninstalled and re-installed iprep008
3. created usb drive
4. booted to the drive
5. connected and turned on the drive, opened it, turned off, closed halfway, turned drive on
6. typed dben 1234567 12345 (does this matter, does it have to be my actual serial?)
7. pressed enter to continue
same result, it hung on dosflash
i have locked myself in my basement, and i am not coming out till this is done!! if anyone can help me further then i would be very grateful!!
