Robin Hoods Playground

I have a D2PRO modchip. I just stuck the game "Solitaire and Mahjong" in and where you normally see the game in the upper left of the Wii menu it said "console update" or something to that effect. When I clicked on that a screen came up saying that "the console needed to be updated in order to play the game. If the console has been technically modified the update could render the console inoperable." Of course I did not update. I deleted the update partition using wii scrubber and the game would not run. From what i seen on google the latest update for the wii is 3.5. Does anyone know what the update does? I have several scrubbed games and of course the mod chip. Is it safe to update or do I trash the game?

I also just tried a PAL House Of The Dead Overkill and it too wants to update. Remove the update partition and game does not run. The Solitaire and Mahjong game was USA.
