iXtreme 1.5 Multispeed

Post by Backslash »

Hey all i was recently in the irc with #FW, and got some news regarding the anticipated iXtreme 1.5 multispeed firmware.

<Backslash> caster, any news on a multispeed 1.5 ?
<caster420> no
<caster420> backslash - wont be released, wasnt released as there is a potential for detection
<caster420> np*
<Backslash> oh serious
<caster420> if you look on the forums, you can change it yourself, just a few hex values

As this states they (as in the big guys) will not be releasing any multispeed firmwares, due to the fact that there is a possibility for detection.

If you play offline and want to have a multispeed firmware, all you have to do is open the .bin in a Hex Editor an change a few values. This isn't recommended for LIVE users.

As for the myth that it can't be detected. apparently there is a possibility and they don't want to take a chance.

Thanks for the info, but I've known this for a while now. Well actually since the release. Basically it's like this. We'vé had multi-speed firmwares for a while, then all of a sudden, there is no more multi-speed. Why? There must be a reason.... You can bet your bottom dollar it has something to do with suspecting it as detectable by microsoft. That goes with anything. If it's there, then it's not, they suspect it as a trigger.

yea man
good post

ive always run 12x
but
that is odd
I wonder if its just a lite-on drive thing.
im thinking that being they could not get a whole dump of the firmware that has something to do with it.

I don't think so. If it were only a partial firmware, it wouldn't be safe to use all together. I suppose they could have patched the holes by logical deduction, but that would be a pain to do I think.

Yeah I wonder why, why would they still have multispeed for the 1.4 firmware though.. like still keep it in xbins?

if it was a trigger than i would remove it altogether.

fw is generally written completely in basic hex. At least that's how we did when I was in college. But filling in the missing links by deduction could work if they knew the logic in which M$/BenQ/Lite-on/Hit used to create the fw.

its my understanding they never did get a dump of the lite-on firmware but they were able to get those 3 files

then used a benq firmware to fill in the blanks.
(if that makes sense )

i could be off on this but im sure i read something like that some where. :?

Figured I'd hijack a related thread rather than starting a new one.

Anyone hear anything regarding Hit1.5?
I just want to be assured it's still be worked on, lol.

CoFree mentioned something about it being released when JungleFlasher becomes a non-beta.

the hit part of jungle does not work right now.
its my understanding that
they are going to be released at or around the same time.
so that the new ix hit 1.5 will have jungle flasher support.

no there is no ETA on this.
that i know of.

i posted the unofficial hexd 1.5 multi awhile ago on here ect.

anyway what's with all these new guys becoming mods ? :? lol.

i guess it doesn't really matter, but it seems ranks are being thrown around way too much on here, and new members who imo don't even deserve it are mods or trusted members.

oh well i guess, maybe i don't know the whole story on why or what, but just wanted to add my input on it.
