When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
I thought so.
After all the ana chip is located directly in the "exhaust", so you can't really tell what it is that's working on heat-up
I'll play a bit and then return it
That was one hell of a "welcome-to-360 world"

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
I fixed it.
It's a v79, btw
hoping for a software solution by maximus

Good to hear (about the getting it fixed, not the 79 part), you might consider posting what the problem was incase someone else has the same issue.

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
heating the ana chip did the job.
I was about to do this:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php? ... 26214&st=0
However, I didn't have to do the pennies thing.
After heating it up, I tried it and it's been running fine since yesterday.
It boots up just fine even after it has completely cooled down (over night)
How are my chances of a v79 no-passkey-solution?
I know probably maximus will wait till the keys he has on stock are sold out, but generally, chances good? Bad?
I know the BenQ drive couldn't get flashed at first, unless some contacts were cut, switches added or something like that.
Maybe we'll see a v79 solution soon?
(ywah, these are the hopes of a half- desperate man)

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
If you had to do a heat fix, you might consider doing an xclamp replacement. There is a guide that I used on a friends xbox a long time ago, and his is still going strong. The one I used is now considered old and is called the MKI, the new one, costs less money and looks like a little better fix at that, it's called the MKIII, the guide is here.
As far as the chances on a no-hardware mod for the 79's, I don't have a clue. I haven't even seen them talk about it in the #fw channel on IRC.

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
man can get a download of this so we can post it up for people.
Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
I can see if I can email rbjtech and get permission to re-post it here if you want? Not sure if you'd want to support it though. You are talking about the xclamp replacement right?

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
I know the different methods of doing the xclamp replacement and I have all I need already, thanks (it's among the things I read before buying a 360. I just wished I hadn't missed the v79 part...considering it's in the textbook tutorial, I could kick my own butt. It's just that the hitachi flash seemed to be the easiest to do, since it doesn't even need iPrep, so I kinda neglected that part of the tut ) .
I'll fix the clamps as well as the fans (to run on 12volts all the time instead of being temperature-dependant) this or next week as I'm rather busy at college

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
I know it might sound strange, but I have written one myself for a friend with pics for the materials needed.
I gathered the info from official tutorials and it does NOT involve drilling larger holes into the case.
I'd be happy to contribute. Of course, beeing you pros and me a 360-noob, you will be able to tell if I'm saying BS by simply reading it. If you are interested, shoot. It's not the first tut I write, just the first one about 360. It doesn't include pics of the sinks, but they're spread all over the net, so...

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
What say ye cofree, shall we let him write his guide? I don't see a problem with it myself, we can make changes if need be and such.

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
OK
I'm editing out references only my buddy would get, as I was helping HIM and not speaking generally.
I just noticed I don't say how to remove the sinks (as my buddy had removed them already)

Re: When has the Hitachi v79 Been released?
Ah, your doing Lawdogs version. I've never tried his version, but from what I hear, it works too. So which ever way you want to go cofree. His doc had some mis-spelling, easily fixed, and it would work for what your wanting.
