please help, lost drive
please help, lost drive
hi
after reading countless guides i decided to flash my lite on drive,
i purchased the ck3 and probe,
installed jungle flasher,porti032 and ck3 drivers, hooked everything up, usb, sata to motherboard and molex power etc,
used probe, got my key and all other stuff fine, erased the drive, all was going well, start writing new firmware and my pc crashed completley giving me a blue screen with an error code.
now when i hook everything up pc freezes soon as i turn on the ck3,
when i go to jungle flasher my drive is no longer listed on any of the ports,
i read more guides try to find out how to fix and read up on dos flash,
im using exacly the same setup with ck3,
usb, molex power cable, sata, and green cable to drive with the probe attached,
i made my boot up flash drive with dos flash on and my new saved firmware on,
i boot up in dos
type cd dosflash press enter
type dosflash then enter
it then says dosflash version 1.7 or something like that and nothing happens,
i understand this is where it should list your drive but there is nothing there and it doesnt accept any more commands,
so the most important thing for me right now is getting my drive listed in a port agin as it just doesnt show at all on anything.
any help would be exellent as this is doing my head in and i cant find anything else on this anywhere
thanks
lee

Re: please help, lost drive
If you have the (key) files from the drive, you should be fine with this...
The first thing I would do is try Lite-on-erase from DOS (with an Iprep flash). If the BSOD of death occured halfway through the flash, then you have a drive that is sort of stuck in limbo. Having said that, you still should be able to erase it and reflash it. if I remember correctly the lite ons are pretty much brick proof, as long as you got a good dump of the required files.

And if at first you don't succeed..? Order the damn card!

Re: please help, lost drive
the reason i cant erase the drive and write new firmware on is because the pc no longer picks up the drive in jungle flasher, or dos mode, its like the drive doesnt exist when hooked up, have tried it on 3 pcs now and its the same on every 1, just cant find the drive
Re: please help, lost drive
strange...
If you try your iprep flash on a different PC, you HAVE to set it up on that system. It looks for the range of I/O ports from the unit it's set up on...
Are you using a VIA card? If you have an onboard sata, it might be worth trying with this, but make sure you get the right port address, or you're just stressing yourself out further.
Dude, I wish I could suggest something else. I'll have a look at the drive for you if you wish (that's not to say I'll be able to get any more from it than what you can)...

Re: please help, lost drive
if you do that
you will still have the problem of getting your key in that dvd drive from ebay.
your console will not work for games if it does not find that key in your firmware when it checks.

Re: please help, lost drive
to be honest mate i would love to fix this drive but it has got me completley stumped,
ive got 3 days left to do it lol as i think my flashing days are over as ive listed my ck3 kit on ebay,
as for the drive off ebay theres a bloke on there selling blank drives and if i email him my liteon cfw he says he will flash it ready for me and my old lite on drive can go in the bin lol

Re: please help, lost drive
Check his feedback etc first to make sure he's reputable. Might be worth hanging onto the drive instead of binning it in case you ever need any spares out of it.

Re: please help, lost drive
woo hoo we have lift off,
i havent been able to sleep tonight thinking about this.
i never actually tested the drive on my own pc as it is quite new and doesnt have molex
power cables in it.
so i hooked up the sata to my motherboard and drive then hooked up the power cable to my 360 and drive to power it.
this completley cut out the ck3 kit.
booted into dos flash and found the drive instantly.
so i now have the drive but cant erase it or anything, i presume this is because i need the ck3 kit attached but cant connect this at the minute as i dont have a molex cable.
will go out tomorrow and buy a sata to molex adapter if there is such a thing so i can power the ck3.
am i right in saying the reason i cant read or write the drive at the moment is because i need the ck3 kit connected, usb etc

Re: please help, lost drive
are you talking about the same drive or a new drive? if not the same, and you made reference to tossing it, i don't recommend that because from reading eything over that drive is still good, it's just locked up, that can be fixed. also, with the new drive that you most recently referred to, if it is new keep that ck3 that you posted on ebay and use that to flash it, start from scratch and start with a different computer. . . i'm not even sure if what i just wrote made sense
Re: please help, lost drive
lol mate
its the same drive that i was havin trouble with.
