IPREP Error

Post by GOAT »

I am getting an error when I try to format my 2GB Kingston stick. The error says window drive not ready. I have tried refomatting it several different times. Any help would be great.

Can you format using the windows -right click format method? If so then it's probably a function error with iPrep, also you could try using a smaller flash drive or another usb port. Plus you don't need to load all three FW's just the one your going to use.

You only need to load up the firmware pertaining to your DVD drive (either Sammy, Benq or lite on).
Make sure you have netframework 2.0 installed....(I've found that Vista usually refuses to automatically update to framework 2.0 or greater. You need to review the update history in windows update and make sure that it was properly installed. Otherwise you will have to manually download the update and re-install it.)

I also had troubles using a kingston (patriot) 4GB usb stick. At first I thought that the size was too big. So went on to buy a smaller 2GB stick from office depot. Everything worked fine after that. Later, I learned that the size has nothing to do with the error, and someone explained that the errors are caused because the stick you're using does not support FAT format. The problem with the Kingstons is that it seems they do not support FAT format. The only way I was able to make it work was buying one of those cheap sticks at office depot...I believe the brand is "ativa". Any other generic brand will do also.

Hope it all works out for you

As the guys have said plus it might also be worth going into your bios and disabling the floppy drive (sometimes shows up as enabled even though you may not have one)
