when to use probe

Post by jcue »

Hello,

I don't have a liteon drive but i'm curious to know when exactly you would use the "probe" to extract your key from your drive. I watched Kutsh's video (using iprep) and noted that he soldered the two points instead of using the probe. If he were to of used a probe instead of soldering the two points then at what point would he have used the probe?

Would you hold the probe to the point right after you type dlite and the serial?

Put the probe in before you start the dump, take it out once it has finished :P Wait til it has finished though, or it might not work properly.

That makes sense thank you. Iprep seems to be alot easier than jungle flasher from what i seen, so i'll stick with iprep. thanks again

When using the connectivy kit 3 w/ probe and iprep can you use the usb port instead of the serial port to extract the key? I think i read that the iprep only support the serial but i just wanted to make sure. thanks for all the help

If your liteon is flashed already how would you flash w/ an updated firmware w/ iprep? Are the steps exactly the same? Or do you have to "make" your own firmware. A friend of mine is thinking about upgrading his liteon to 1.51 (we have ordered a ck3 and probe) but I'm a little hesitant because the liteon seems a bit more intimidating. The video on klutsh.com makes it seem very easy.

steps are the same, just load the new 1.51 firmware. make sure you get the new ixDef file as well. that needs to be replaced in the C:\program files\iprep\resources folder in order for the new firmware to take in iPrep. . .

iprep is have trouble for most people
updating to the new 1.51 from the 1.5 even after a def file update.
we are thinking is a dosflash problem.

at this point if you are updating a lite-on from a hacked firmware you are best to use the buggy jungle flasher.

Yep as CoFree said. your best off flashing with Jungle Flasher if your updating from 1.5, with the newer version its a lot more easier.

I'll try jf thanks. I've been poking around the threads and was noting a theme regarding iprep...is iprep going to be discontinued? I really hope not it's very easy to use.

Klutsh has put a lot of work into it, I can't see it being discontinued...

there's always teething problems with any software. I think it should be reverted to use MTKFlash, but that's just me
