There is just no where to get good (nice) via support when you are having trouble.

have you use this before or are you just
posting it up for all to see.

if you have used it
let us know what you think and how it went.

Sadalius
thuis is something to think about here man. :?

Yeah keep us updated. It will be fantastic if it works well on the Liteons as the iprep and jungle methods are buggy at the time being.

As far as the people with freezing issues after dumping, try using disc without your PC's HDD connected, it may solve the freezing issues. (Don't worry, disc works just fine without an HDD, it just won't backup your firmware for later use)

This release makes disc compatible with ALL PC SATA & IDE DVD-ROM drives, but disc still has some known issues with certain SATA HDDs. (after dumping the firmware disc immediately copies the dumped firmware over to your HDD, which can cause freezing with some SATA HDDs.)

Once again, if you are having freezing issues, try using disc without your PC HDD attached, you should be fine. Although, if you have a spare IDE HDD laying around that you can use instead of your SATA HDD, that would be highly recommended instead of simply disconnecting your SATA HDD.

NOTE: Using an IDE HDD is a much better idea though, as using disc without an HDD does introduce the possibility of bricks. I'm not saying your drive WILL brick, only that it is a possibility without an HDD.

Update from frosty the snowman

It seems that the freezing issues many users are experiencing is related to the NTFS4DOS application, which controls NTFS support on my disc.

I am currently testing another freeware DOS/NTFS solution, expect an updated version of my disc within 24 hours that should solve any freezing issues.(so far i have had no problems and i have a sata hdd stutterman)

I also just picked up the disc but I am having good luck using jungle to extract the key and using dosflash to write as in cofree's viewtopic.php?f=195&t=3226" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; In my opinion dos is the way to go, you can't go wrong in dos much less variables, but I plan checking it out here soon and will report.

ight, so i used this disc. it's somewhat pretty cool, got some flaws though. . . check it out:

basically frosty's mod disc is comprised of some of our favorite modding softwares. . . go figure

i flashed a lite-on drive, now frosty i guess for whatever reason prides himself on the fact that the disc is step by step in it's instruction's so theres "no need" for a tutorial, however even with a step by step flashing process theres still questions that are left to be answered. if using this as a first time flasher you're not going to know what port you're via card is on, so you have to venture off into windows to find it* and when flashing the lite-on it doesn't tell you to bridge the 707 points all though there is a diagram that shows some homemade ttl converter that had a probe going into the 707 hole. that translates into you can use your own connectivity kit**, whichever one you have. you have to do the eject, power off, push tray half way in, power on method. after it reads your drive key (step 1) it should be smooth sailing from there, it'll show you the key, you'll then hit any key to continue and then it'll say success, it'll prepare the 1.51 firmware (step 2) then it'll erase the drive (step 3) and then it'll flash it (step 4). i put the drive back in the xbox, plugged it up and put a backup in and it loaded.

*locate the via card in the device manager under storages controllers, select it go, to resources tab and its the first one
**i used a ck3 lite and i bridge the connection with a screw driver

i also flashed a samsung, it somewhat went smoothly, had to try a couple of times before it read the drive, once it read the drive it was good from there. the program seems to work, however when i finish the read process it told me to reboot the pc, don't do that, hit escape, it'll proceed to step two and so on for each time it tells you to reboot. also when i went to check the folders where it said it backed up the files, the folders were empty. . . :? so the good thing is i have back ups from the orignal flash, so first time flasher beware.

other than that i guess it's okay, i say take you're time even though it tells you what to do "step by step" because frosty made this software on his computer and everyones computer is different and clearly mine didn't follow the "step by step" instructions to a t. at the end of the day i wish i was using iPrep but this did the job. . .

I just checked out that disc its okay i guess i like the way i did it because it worked. The schematic is a bit technical especially looking at my ck3 those points are quite small but if you are a good at that type of thing and soldering tiny points this is a nice disc. Plus don't know if it's worth the time to put a mini board together from that or just buy one. TIme is money...
