Whats the advantages over ide with sata ?



For sata would it work with the via chip 6421a?

for ide how would you set it up?

Well it all depends on if your motherboard has SATA ports, or in this case you have your VIA card and that has SATA ports. IDE and SATA are just interfaces, in my opinion, I prefer SATA. If you pick a IDE Drive it's still going to function fine.

Most Motherboards have 1 or 2 IDE channels.

So can i plug this drive in via sata to my Via chip?

Yes, just make sure you plug it into the port closest to the front of the computer, which is the one on the right in the picture.

not sure what you mean.... you can probably enable the other port, but i'm just saying if you are going to use that port solely.
