I won't hurt to try it with out disabling it, that way if it works, you won't forget that it's disabled and then pull your hair out trying to figure out why your computer won't boot if your boot drive is a sata drive that is. Just make sure to choose the right port with you read out and write the firmware. Then if it don't work, go ahead and disable it, just don't forget to re-enable it when your done
