The beta releases were official releases so they are publicly available but I think theres a developer charge associated with activation. Sorry man like I said I never played with them too much, I couldn't handle the idea of a beta release of an at-the-time unstable OS.

you don't have to be confused, i have a developer account and that's the lastest firmware they released after the beta 5 like i said before. that is currently on my phone. they say it's the pre release so more than like in 6 days i won't have to update. . .

SOOOOO, its 11:47pm on June 16th. Is this release supposed to be out at midnight or is there going to be a time they are going to release it?? I WANT IT!

I just finished installing it and its rebooting.

I'm trying to figure out why I still have the MakeItMine app (or whatever its called) running because I still have my name where the ATT name is supposed to be by the signal bars... Also all my apps that I downloaded and added to iTunes were still on it too. Is it still jailbroken? I don't have cydia or installer on it anymore, but it acts like its still slightly jailbroken.

it's not still jailbroken, if you install the new firmware again and don't restore from your back up those trace elements will no longer be there. . . once you restore the back up however the make it mine change and certain other things will appear.

the server is down... do i just download 2.2.1 again and then update?

why don't you just do a restore form iTunes. . . and going back to 2.2.1 isn't a good idea, the say you can't but you can but i wouldn't. . . lol!

When I click the restore button it says that the Server is unavailable, probably from all the people updating.

Oh well. At least its working, somepeople cant use their phones until tomorrow, or whenever the server comes back up.

why is that?

After you install the update, the phone restarts and has to go through the activation. So if the server is down, people are going to be stuck at the screen telling them to connect it to iTunes to be activated.

that makes sense but it shouldn't happen, have you heard of that happening?
