It worked!
It worked!
Hey you guys, I had that problem with the BENQ a while back. I got a new one, lot 745, which was probably therefore manufactured in November. I also got an even cheaper, more Chinese card to use - http://microcenter.com/single_product_r ... id=0273360
Guess what...read bank 0...OK!
Thanks for all your help, now i can finally beat Bioshock!!!!!!!!!!
I guess the problem was the card I was using, even tho it was 6421 VIA...
This new card is 6421 VIA too, but it is 6421A VIA, and not 6421L VIA like the one that didn't work. So if that helps anyone then hopefully this post is beneficial.
Thanks guys, happy holidays!

Definetly. I think it's a much better community than 360mods or xbox-scene in that people help people and stay focused on the topics. It's nice to get real help, I can't stand flaming and such.
Also, I am running Vista and it IS important that when you run Iprep you "Run as Administrator" to prep your USB drive. Otherwise you get an error.

Re: It worked!
One quick caveat about the flash-
I used Multispeed firmware. I also used the first option for non-stealth. When you choose non-stealth it doesn't ask you a speed choice to run the drive at. Does this mean it just left it at the default speed????????

Re: It worked!
I think that it does. One question though, is there a reason you chose non-stealth?

Re: It worked!
I don't play online and I didnt want to patch...that means choosing non-stealth was the right way to go right?
I ask about the drive speed because the benq seems real loud...

Re: It worked!
hmmm. The syba card is the card that I use. I've never had a problem with this card. The first card I ordered was dead. Wouldn't work with anything attached to it so I RMA'd it and this one, like I said, works like a charm.

Re: It worked!
Weird. 'cause for the life of me that 150R would NOT work. I got the other one, took the EXACT same steps as with the 150R, and BOOM. Worked immediately, first try.
I'm going to spoof the hitachi 59 to work in this new arcade benq I have that is now flashed
I think I've got it down, looks pretty simple, just use toolbox I think. I'm just doing this as a fail-safe because the hitachi 59 I have sitting around is pretty useless as-is. I may as well flash it for an extra drive.
And the MTK Flash is only necessary for the 6421L's??? I checked it when I flashed with the 6421A and it seemed to be OK...I mean, it worked

Re: It worked!
All the MTK patch does is add the vendor info for the 6421l to the mtkflash.typ file. It doesn't hurt anything if you use the patch, shouldn't hurt anything if you don't since your using the 6421a.
In regards to spoofing, just make sure that you insert the key of the drive that your wanting to spoof, and that you select the proper spoof string. Like if your replacing the Benq with your hitachi, take the dvd key from the Benq file and insert it into a copy of the original hitachi firmware. Then look at the label on top of the Benq to see what model and revision it is, then in the drop down of firmware toolbox, select the benq that matches. Then create your hacked firmware and then differential patch it.
