PC can't detect Liteon drive after failed spoofing

Post by Han Cholo »

I had a failed spoofing attempt with a liteon drive into an ms25 console.
I was going to try to fix this, but now my computer can't detect my liteon drive in Jungleflasher.
I thought it was my Sata card but I just plugged in two different drives into my computer and they read just fine.
I tried to use different ports and different Sata Cables, but no change.

Did I just brick the drive?

I don't think so. Errors like this are usually correctable. How are you powering the drive? Have you tried keeping the drive powered while you turn your pc on? Keep trying and keep posting and we'll all try to help you.

You rock bro :) I kept the drive powered on while I booted the pc and it showed up in Jungleflasher, which is pretty awesome because I was already looking into a replacement drive.

But I still can't seem to spoof this Liteon drive into the ms28 console.
I dumped the original ms28 then I loaded 1.51Liteon into the target firmware and spoofed it.
then I just flashed the liteon as usual, and it was a no go. The tray won't open and it keeps saying reading...

What do you think bro? I'm still really new at this. This is my first attempt at spoofing...

Also, does the Liteon key factor into this process at all? I can't help but think I should be putting that into the mix...

it does, you have to have the key of the lite-on drive, you spoof that with the custom firmware of the samsung drive. you can use jungleflasher to do that.

Cool thanks for the info but I'm still a little confused here.

So would i load the Original samsung firmware into the target
then do a manual spoof and insert the liteon key, and then
load that custom Samsung FW into the source and spoof the
1.51 liteon in the target and then spoof it again?

na, you got to load the lite-on dummy file as the source and the samsung hacked firmware as the target. then hit spoof to target, now you have spoofed firmware. save file and then continue on to flash. . .

Okay, but the firmware says it's spoofed as liteon. I'm trying to put a liteon drive into a samsung console. I tried to write it but it said the firmware in the target was not liteon firmware so it didn't let me do it.

And thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. :)

Sorry dude, but I'm a little mixed up here. the replacement drive is a liteon so I think I just spoofed a liteon as a liteon with Samsung firmware. I think I got it backwards. Because when I tried to write it, I got a message saying
"firmware in target buffer is not liteon firmware write aborted"

lol, yeah I was pretty confused to.

So I did just that. I loaded the original dump of the ms28 then I spoofed it into the Lite hacked firmware, and still no dice.

I just get that screen that says reading....
Then it says close tray, and then it goes back to reading...

Any ideas?

I don't know, the tray won't even open. As soon as I boot it up it just says reading...
And, I know the tray works because it opens and closes up just fine with my connectivity kit.
