ck3
http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php ... 284&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I was looking at this and it said that it was like like the probe/connectivity kit in one. Can anyone explain how it would show me the key w/o the probe? Also, I feel kinda like a noob but its because i've never f'd up a drive so i have never had to do the replacing procedure.. But does the key have to do something like if u were to replace it with a new drive? Thanks.

Re: ck3
No, that doesn't come with a probe.
I have never used the probe myself.
I just bridge the R707 pads with a paperclip while extracting the key.

When you say you're replacing a drive, you are actually referring to what is called "Spoofing"
Do some reading in the Tutorials section, and make sure you thoroughly understand the process.
There is a bigger risk of bricking if you don't know what you're doing.

Yes, the key is the most important piece of the puzzle, without it you can't put another drive in that console.ohnoacucumber wrote:But does the key have to do something like if u were to replace it with a new drive? Thanks.

Re: ck3
Yeah the probes available seperately for $17.95 (the uk sites bundle them together and it works out a few pounds cheaper) so you'd have to put that on top of the price of the ck3 unless your going to make a diy probe/ solder or bridge the connections..
I know what you mean as the description insinuates that the ck3 alone can do the liteons and doesn't mention the need for the probe.
" New in this kit is the ability to extract the key from the new Liteon drives in order for you to be able to use another model drive which can be updated / repaired"
Badly worded and slightly misleading as you will still need the probe/solder etc (although its possible to flash it without the probe if its already got ixtreme on through jungleflasher)

Re: ck3
OK but when you said "you will still need the probe/solder" if you get the probe there is no need for solder or did u mean like you will either need the probe or have to solder?
Re: ck3
you have to have one or the other
solder or a probe
solder or a probe

Re: ck3
as of now you do
for sure
soldering or just bridging the 707 point
is what is giving iprep v8.8 the trouble
as long as you use a probe
then iprep v8.8 will update your firmware from v1.5 to v1.51 no trouble.

Re: ck3
You could also save yourself a few dollars and just make a diy probe as thats all i use and it's never faltered.
