Swapping drives..

Post by Mclovin44 »

I'll try to make this short... I have 2 360's both flashed with 1.51. Premium one has ms28 drive and Elite has Benq drive. flashed both of these with iprep 8.8 . I want to put the sammy in the Elite, and the benq in the premium. is this called spoofing? and if so can anyone help me out with the steps involved? or maybe a good tutorial. I have the backup folders of each ofw.

yes they both work fine, but the benq is a little noisy. kind of a grinding noise in the beginning. the sam drive is very quiet and runs smooth as silk.

Yeah i've come across a few noisy benq's. Think they're all like that. If its just for looks wise it would be simpler to just swap the housings over. If the noise gets to you you could always save the games onto the hd.

No you've misunderstood me. I meant swap the black elite casing over to the premium (if its the later hdmi premium ) if he was just doing it for looks. (in case he likes the Elite in a certain quiet room) as i can't see any other reason why he would want to swap drives. I really should stop sticking you with pins.. :D :D :D

thanks 4 input guys. I understand what you mean about changing housings over, but in a nutshell I like the quietness of the sam drive and the HDMI of the Elite. I'm trying for the best of both worlds. quiet drive & hdmi.

You'd have been sorted if it was a later edition of the premium as they include the hdmi port (but then again they didn't come with samsung drives but it could have had a spoofed one so i'm sticking to that story :) ). Yeah i get what you mean now but the quietest way to run them is to copy the disc onto the hd as it makes playing games much more enjoyable without it sounding like a jet is coming into land.

Good plan and that way you know you'd be covered if you ever needed a replacement drive or you could always sell the benq to recoup your initial outlay. I'd rather just turn the tv up louder though. ;)

I do put my games on the HD. I use the 360 also as my dvd player and didn't like the noisy benq. at some point when it becomes too annoying or the drive is going to die I'll just get one off ebay and flash. Thanks for your help guys :)

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. To get back to your original question though yeah it's possible to swap the drives over by spoofing them. :D

Nope spoofing is easy...

Open jungle flasher and:

Dump both FW's, take the FW of the benQ open it as source, open the FW of the samsung as target, click spoof source to target. Click save to file, save that CFW, and use firmware toolbox to flash the benQ you can now put this in your samsung console.

Then do the opposite for the Samsung.

Source = BenQ OFW
Target = Samsung CFW
Spoof source to target
Save
Open in FW toolbox
Flash your Samsung
Put the samsung in the elite... done.
