just turned my 360 on and a dashboard update is available and needed to stay signed into live.
is it safe to do with a flashed drive?

yes, your flashed xbox 360 can do all things that an unflashed x360 and more that is the beauty of it.

It's always good to ask around when you see an update.
Nobody really knows what's going on behind the scenes unless they work for M$.
Better safe than sorry.
