I have a 6421 pci card which is installed (w/driver that came with it) and recognized as working in windows xp and a benq drive. I loaded iprep06 on a usb drive. Using the internal sata port on the 6421, i connected into the benq drive. once i get to the part to turn on the drive, It doesnt even flick one time. it sits at 7f. Should I be turning settings off on using a different driver to get it to recognize it?

I was reading this thread and it looks like this guy had the same problem as me:

http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... f=63&t=235

So with iprep i click y, plug in sata cable
then dben 1234567 12345
follow the steps up to turn on power
when power is it doesnt do anything
it did the power on before hitting yes and it doesnt work

I tried moving in different pci slots, internal and external ports too on the card

I installed driver 550b, is this the most current one?

well you use your ser# not the 1234567 12345.you know that right.
that wont be causing your problem
is it giving you any code x071 or anything after you power it up.

getting the computer to see the drive can drive you crazy.
what is the card you are using.i know you said it was a via 6421a which should work.this is the card i use.

I have the exact same drive as you.

It only reads DF, nothing else. I ran the dos check in windows for the card and checked the iprep file and the numbers matched (mine was 9000). What driver do you have installed for that card? Could that be the problem?

man something has had to change
the other day you said it was stuck on 7f.now when i look over the tread you say its stuck at DF
if you go into the device manger on your computer it will tell you if your sata raid control is working if it has a "yellow ? or a red sign its not working"

if you are going by the video then it should do just like that.if its not the first thing i would change is sata cable then sata card.
there are some that say you have to have the drive powered on when you hit "Y" to resend mtk.

these two guide should have everything you need .

if after doing it like this and it still dont work then you will have to start replacing things.sata cable, sata card, pci slot, sata plug (try a different one) different flash(try a floppy) and even a different computer.

Sorry about that, I was wrong about DF it is 7F.

So far i've changed different pci slots, used the internal and external slots, changed drivers. Im trying to put the USB drive in my other computer, but it has no option in the bios for usb/zip drive to boot. I have a floppy drive in it but have no clue how to get that one to boot. Can I use iprep on the floppy?

I didnt think of it initially, but when I was prepping the USA drive, I was getting an error message of:

Windows- Drive not Ready
exception process message
c000000a3 parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

But I hit continue and it read preperation complete. I thinking this is prat of the problem. But ive tryed 2 different USB drives and 4 different USB ports and it does the same thing. Can I prep the USB in another computer and put it in this one and should I do the floppy method?

which every computer that builds the usb is the one you need to flash with .the port IO need to be the same.
you set a floppy the same way as the usb flash.
most computers will boot of the floppy without having to change anything in the bios.
it will take a min or 2 for firmtool to run if you use the floppy.it will not be a fast as the video.
thats the first thing i would do is try to do a dump/read with a floppy.if it works then stop and try to figure out what is wrong with the usb flash.
if you have to you can do it with the floppy.
