It's usually written on the case, if not it may be a bit of trial and error to get Jungle Flasher or FW tool box to read the F/W on the drive.

its on the drive on the top on the sticker i think its on the right side of the sticker cant miss it.. it will say if its a 78 or 79

Your drive is a HIT, but thats not really what your interested in, your interested in the FW on the drive. It will say "FW Version.... 78FK or 79FK" or whichever.

As the guys have said look on the sticker on the top of the dvd drive, on the right hand side under the serial number it will tell you which ROM version you have:
