iPrep v9 not detecting BenQ Drive?

Post by AoN x KiLLa »

I have windows xp pro x64 and a nvidia nforce 780i and iprep v9 is detecting the 3 sata controllers on my motherboard but not the benq drive. The benq drive shows up in my bios but not in iprep. Also ive tried all the ports so im all out of ideas.

well 64bit can be a pain
the benq drive works best with a via 6421a or l sata card
when using iprep

you could try jungle flasher to flash the drive
on a onbo sata port

It's been my experience that JF wont work on a 64 bit system. My buddy has run 64 bit systems since there was such a thing and he ended up putting a Xp 32 bit on a small external hdd and boots to it for his flashing needs through JF. He normally uses iPrep for most of his flashing.

Also your chipset will work for flashing, that's the exact chipset that's in my system. I've used it and the ViA card.

thanks for the replies. I dont really want to have to dual boot my hard drive to get x32 bit. So i need to find out why IPrep is not detecting my benq drive but it does detect the sata ports.

you will need the via6421 a or l pci sata card.
this one works
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
there are only a few mobo sata ports that will dump/flash a samsung or a benQ 360 dvd drive

im not sure why you think that
but
it want hurt to try
just dont get all worked up if it wont
but
yes there are a few (a slim few) nforce boards (chipsets) that will work.

when you are tried of banging your head order the card.

well all the guides that ive looked up said that the nforce 780i serial ata controller would work. I really dont wont to have to buy a sata card when the onboard should work. I might just end up dual booting my harddrive.

It could be anything from the drivers your using, different manufacturers with the same chipset use different drivers. It could be anything in your setup. Most of us use the VIA card because it's almost guaranteed to work. Honestly if you want this to go smoothly for you get the card. If your drive is the only one you plan on doing then go ahead and mess around with your chipset. But be aware that all of us on the staff here at Robin Hood's Playground have been doing this for many many moons and have flashed many many drives in multiple formats and styles. If we say a specific part is going to work then most likely it will. There are no guarantees on nForce chipsets. If anyone tells you otherwise then they are not trying to help you but instead the just want to see how frustrated you'll get if it doesn't work.
