amp problem vibe a4

Post by parminder »

hi guys, hows everything, i havent been on here for a while now sorry i have left the xbox scene so i dont know if i will be able to answer anything, just wondering if you know something with i have a problem.
recently i bought a package for my car its a vibe a4 amp rated 2000watts and 2 x 12" black air 2 subs in twin enclosure of 550w 1600w max. i connected everything up with a 4 gauge wire 140amp cut off switch and with 1 farad capactior. when i turn it on it works fine for few minutes on loud but then shuts off ie no output, ive been told its actually overheating which i dont uderstand why. then i connected a 10" alpine 300rms 1000w sub and it works fine and doesnt cut off, i ve tried turning gain down and everything but cant seem to be a ble to get vibe sub work. if you have any knowlege on this please let me know.
thanks

How do you have it wired up? I can't find specs on the subs, are they 2 or 4 ohms? How many voice coils?

The reason for it cutting off would be because of an overload. You could try running the speakers to the same terminals by bridging them. Basically put both positive wires together on one channel and put both negatives together on the other channel. This may help not draw so much current so they work. Try it out.

Sorry for the delay. Try to just do one sub, your amp may be bad. You also might want to turn the gains down if you have it all the way up since that will cause problems too.

Check your ground and other connections. You may want to get some fork connectors so you can attach the the power and ground to the amp better.

I wish the website said more about the speakers. The impedance may not be wired right for the amp and causing problems by overloading the amp, basically causing the amp to push out more than it can.

It sounds like your amps just aren't cutting it. They might not be getting enough power or they just can't handle the signal coming in and going out. Can you send them back and get something else?

i bought the amps from a guy not from a retailer but i am guessing he used both amps 2 power both subs. the strange thing is both of them do the same thing. i even changed the heads unit so thats not a problem.
