Hi guys,

What a nightmare i have had. Went to flash my Liteon from stock to 1.6. When i extracted the key using CK3 Pro and probe i had the mode b button pressed (Red light) instead of blue light and i never noticed. However i managed to get a key that looked valid and both keys married up (In Jungle Flasher 0.1.60).........Don't know whether having mode B pressed would have affected the key ????
Anyway i got to the Lite-On Erase part and my computer froze. Gutted
So i followed the l-o-eras.exe route in dos and happy days managed to erase it.
So i booted back up into Jungle Flasher again and followed all the steps again by using my files which i had extracted - inquiry, identify, key, dummy to reflash my drive.

It all came back as success until i booted the drive up in my 360 and all i got with both an original and Wave 3 Backup was 'Play DVD'. ??????

Does this mean i didn't get a valid key initially ?? potentially from not noticing 'Mode B' button pressed on my CK3 & Probe ??

Has anyone any idea how i fix this ???

well if your key is not good
then its game over
as long as your key is good
and you did the recover like i did it in the video
then you would have had the v1.6 hacked firmware flashed in with your key.
and would not have to went back to jungle flasher.

After a somewhat restless night of little sleep i decided to re-install jungleflasher 1.59 Beta
and decided to load my dummy.bin (as i was sure the key was good) as source and loaded iXtreme 1.51 Final - created my Lite_cfw.bin and went ahead and flashed.

All went well - Works perfectly !!! Booting both originals and Wave3 games.

So what is the problem with the iXtreme 1.6 Repack ??? I got it off XBins. (Do i need to go from Stock - 1.51 Final - 1.6 Repack ?) was Stock - 1.6 Repack too much of a jump ??

* My symptom with 1.6 Repack was Drive booting up and only stating 'Play DVD'

[On the bad erase note. Many thanks CoFree i did follow your video tut for l-o-eras.exe it worked spot on - but as i had then removed my via drivers i went back to Jungle Flasher to stubbornly see if i could make it work on the Flash Stage. Trying to get to grips with a new program. I usually use iPrep]

Any ideas guys on whether to try 1.6 repack again ??.

Maybe download it again as i haven't had any problems with the 1.6 and yeah you can go straight from stock to it, no need to go to 1.51 first.

Well i've tried reflashing and reflashing (I know my key is good because i can get iX 1.51 Final flashed no probs using JF 1.59b)

My only thought is either the firmware is corrupt - However it seems many people are having no trouble at all with it

or

The new jungle Flasher 1.6 b is the problem ? (I have only ever tried to flash 1.6 using JF 1.6b)

Maybe i should try and load the 1.6 repak firmware up in Jungle Flasher 1.59b (This is what has worked for the 1.51)

Also just to verify my steps. When i unrar the firmware it is labled ix16-liteon-repack.bin. I have then been renaming this to ix16-liteon.bin

Can you think of anything i may have overlooked ??

You should do a MD5 check on the firmware, but I imagine iPrep/JungleFlasher already has this built-in. Maybe you should try erasing and reflashing from DOS?

I may try again later in iPrep and see what the result is ? It just seems strange to me that both originals and backups don't boot in my case - i.e the drive turns into an expensive DVD player when the iX 1.6 is flashed to it

Either the firmware (But it is the repack iam using and have redownloaded off XBins today) or the program JF 1.6b isn't responding in the correct manner for me.

To be honest i may just stick with iX1.51 final (But iam annoyed i can't get the flippin' thing to work) unless there is a major security update with the new firmware but i'm not aware of this

after a day of tinkering with the drive in iPrep i still can't get 1.6 firmware to work on my drive ????

(Also for that matter i can't get dlit to dump off the 1.51 flashed drive either - it just keeps saying invalid dvd key)
(Iam using serial cable not usb when trying to dump with iPrep)

Just a question (because this is driving me insane and making me cross question myself and my ability)

If my drive has iX1.51 Final working on it which boots original, Wave 2 & Wave 3 backups am i right in thinking that my drive key is good as it was used to create my 1.51 flash firmware ?? which is working. Nothing seems to flashup in Jungle Flasher to tell me my key is bad. (I still keep thinking back to when i originally dumped the key with my ck3 pro & probe i had the red light 'Mode B' on by accident - what an ass iam !!!)

(can i post my key string to see if there are any glaring anomalies with it ????)

If it will boot any orig or backup game
your dvd drive key is GOOD

there is no reason to post up your key
its good

there has to be something you are doing/not doing for iprep to not be working.

make sure the probe is in the 707 hole before you hit enter the first time
when doing the dump
also have the tray half closed

then go to the dump /flash

I really appreciate all your help man. It's just so frustrating. I thought my key was good because i could get the iX 1.51 working. It's just not playing ball with the 1.6 repack firmware. when i have extracted the firmware from the rar file iam deleting the 'repack' part of the filename. Think this is correct procedure
JF seems to flash the 1.6 firmware fine but i just get 'play dvd' WTF ???
I'm determined to get this working as my key is good maybe i'm just skipping a step by mistake ?

When going from 1.51 to 1.6 do i redump whilst probing hole then crack on or do i use my original dummy/identify/inquiry/key ?

The way you have stated is to keep these safe and use iPrep and reprobe as a new dump ? am i correct

as long as you put in the 1.6 ixtreme firmware when you made your iprep boot media, you could actually do it either way. Just doing it the way CoFree mentioned is a more straight forward method and is the way that I would do it. Treat it like it has never been flashed before, probe and all.

* Final Update *

Well guys at last i have got it working ! Iam well chuffed

My problem ended up being my PC having a compatibility issue with my Via 6421 sata card. I.e when my card was attached my cpu was maxed out at 100%. So i decided to disconnect the card altogether and moved my sata hard drive of my pc to the Onboard slave sata port and then ran a sata cable directly off the onboard master sata port (They are NVidia onboard sata ports) to be used as my flash cable. I had assumed a while back that these onboard ports wouldn't work also as my hard disk was attached to the primary master i believed i needed the via 6421 card.

How it managed to flash 1.51 Final to my Lite-On drive and not 1.6 Repack i'll never know that is beyond my knowledge level.

However i loaded Jungle Flasher 1.6 and did a complete re-probe dump and then just flashed 1.6 Repack with my fingers crossed. It seemed to run smoothly (Compared to when it was attached to the via card which always seemed to be sluggish)

Worked first time.

Just want to say thanks to all of you who gave the time to give me some guidance. Love this site
