XBox 360 seems to be clicking more than usual. Firmware?

Post by jus2sho »

XBox 360 w/ Hitachi 59DJ Dive
IXtreme 1.4 firmware
Pioneer DVR-112DBK
Verbatim DVD+R DL (Singapore)
DVDInfoPro
wxRipper (hotswap method)
XDVDMulleter
ImgBurn

Above is a list of the software and hardware that I'm using. I just finished backing up my first game and loaded it. My XBox 360 seems to be clicking more than usual. It may just be me, but does the firmware that I flash my Hitachi drive with cause it to make more noise by clicking than usual? I thought that it may just be the burn speed, but I loaded the original copy and it seems to be making the same amount of clicking.

the only time mine has clicked is when it was having a hard time reading the disc.
what speed did you burn at.it should have been no faster than 2.4x speed.

the hotswap does a fast dump.thats one reason i dont like doing it that way

So it has nothing to do with firmware? I burned at 2.4x as suggested. What is another way I can do a dump. Seems like I'm very limited because I have a Hitachi 59dj drive.

Just for the record, I hated trying to rip with wxripper when I did it many moons ago. Ever since I got my sh-d162c drive, life has been much, much easier. I would offer the same advice to anyone else trying to do the same thing.

the best way to make a backup is with a sh-d162c dvd drive that has been flash
hit ebay and have a look for a sh-d162c you wont the v81 or v100 firmware.
you can find them for like 50.00
the best money ive spent

Alright, I just bought the drive from http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... =p3907.m29. Apparently it says that it already has Kreon V1.0 firmware installed, but I still plan on reflashing the drive when I get it. I bought this just so I don't have to open and close my damn burner every time I want to back up a game. Answer me one thing though, how is ripping from this drive any different than ripping using the wxRipper method and a huge dvd movie?

Since it has the Kreon firmware, it knows how to handle 360 games automatically. No more having to open up a dvd drive to rip one, then having to patch the daylights out of it, and just hoping that everything gets patched right. With the sh-d162c drive and xbox backup creator, you simply put the disk in, and rip. All the stealth files are handled automatically. Once it's done, all you have to do is check to see if it passes all the inspections. If it does, burn it and play it. If not, just do it again. It really does save time too.

So no more XDVDMulleter? Also, does the layerbreak have to be changed when burning? I'm not even sure that XBC offers that option. Thanks for the quick reply on all questions!

when you use xbc it will make the dvd file
when you go to burn just input the dvd file and it will set the later break for you

Any idea what to do when you get two crc errors in wxRipper? Disc is clean and I tried it a few times. Do I have to adjust both crc errors and add two extra lines, or do I only adjust the third line and add an extra line after the third line with the remainder value?
