not only are you hilarious but at the same time confusing. . .
the drive is bricked when you erase the firmware and don't have the right key and then you flash over it leaving the drive capable of playing only dvds or in the case of a hitachi the tray won't open. what you're referring to is drives being locked up. be careful so you don't confuse someone new to the whole flashing process.
