BenQ flashing problem!

I have big trouble flashing my BenQ drive! I have previously flashed it with iXtreme 1.41 with the exact same equipment that i'm using right now. I have a VIA6421 card and have made a bootable floppy (my computer doesn't support USB boot) with latest iPrep. I enter dben 1234567 12345 (using real serial ofcourse) and it begins listing my available ports but freezes as soon as it tries to list the SATA card ports. I can see primary IDE master and slave and also secondary IDE master and slave but then it just stands there doing nothing. If i press some keys on the keyboard i get a Stack overflow error.

If i unplug the SATA cable from the BenQ drive it lists the ports fine (after i reboot) but then it goes directly to try copying the ben-ofw to a Backup dir on the drive which ofcourse fails as there haven't been an original firmware created yet.

When i use Jungleflasher 1.60 it only says No Drive Detected. The drive is working fine in the 360 though.

I should also mention that i power it with a CK3 Pro.

Follow that word for word. Also make sure you unplug all your other drives inc dvd and cd. Also disconnect ur hard drives.

If your using the Pci via6421 card you will have a primary port on that its normaly the port thats on the inside of the case, use that port to plug ur sata cable in.

I have flashed 3 drives before (one on this computer back in december) but just in case i missed something i followed the videoguide you linked to. I do everything right but at the step where i write dben xxxxxxx xxxxx it can't list my VIA SATA card ports whenever the BenQ is connected, it just stops.

I have tried disabling all IDE and onboard SATA controllers in BIOS. I also unplugged the power to all internal drives (IDE and SATA datacables still connected though) which i guess would be enough for them to be "out of the way".

Yes, i'm using the primary port on the SATA card, same as before when it worked.

I also tried another SATA cable but no success

No error messages. Just halts whenever it tries to list the VIA SATA ports. If i press any keys i get a stack overflow error after a few presses. When disconnecting the SATA from the BenQ it can list the VIA SATA ports after reboot.

Im not sure if this reason is your problem.

could have something to do with your floppy drive i have had to disable a floppy drive in order for it to work before. But as your using your floppy to boot im unsure which way to direct you now as i aint realy played with Jungle Flasher.

Can you definatly not get your comp to boot via usb??

Ok. When you had this prob, do you remember if it somehow halted when trying to list available ports? Still sounds strange as i flashed this particular BenQ the same way before (using older iPrep 008 that was released in december i think).

Even if this has been put together by iPrep it is ofcourse in Dosflash the problem appears.

some computers wont give you an optioon to boot from usb unless the usb is actuly plugged in. I got the message when listing ports.

the other guys should be around soon may be they will know off another reason

your bios is too old...try updating it...look for a update to your bios....burn it to a cd....install....give it a whirl

I have a pretty old 2.4Ghz single core computer from 2003. This is also when the latest BIOS was released which i already have installed (Asus P4PE board).

Maybe i should just try using another computer (if i can get hold of one), which kinda frustrates me as it worked fine when i flashed the drive around christmas.

Did iPrep 008 use an older Dosflash maybe? However, Jungleflasher also acts weird not seeing the drive.

keep in mind it will take a few min for firmtool to run after the firmware dump
and it will not look like it is doing anuthing
but dont touch it

till firmtool runs

do it like the video
but it takes longer
dont flash till you have a good key for sure 100%

Stack overflow
Most of the time this is fixed by resetting your bios to default.
One person did this.
"I went to the bios and i changed the IDE to RAID"
This also can be from a computer that does not have a floppy drive installed but, the floppy is enabled in the bios
Go in the bios and dic able the floppy.

Thanks for all the advice! I pretty much solved it!

Whatever i do, DOSFlash still crashes on me. However, i feel a little retarded. I got it working in JF after using the open/close tray method. Before, i pressed eject on my CK3 then pushed it halfway in. Now i instead pressed eject, then close and powered off the CK3 halfway in.

Also, some crap had happened with my PortIO32 so reinstalled it and wham! My drive was found! I successfully flashed it after spoofing the key from my original FW which i backed up in december.
