lite on ??

Great to be here, own a hit 059 to 1.51, also own a lite on A0A1 my question, can i solder the jump point 707 or can i just use the screwdriver method. First time flashing the lite on drive its stock let me know.
I just want to know my lite on has never been flashed and has the newer cooling from ms, it is the board with three cooling fins instead of just the two?

Both methods work. If you're hands are at all unsteady I would suggest the soldering method. The most important part of flashing a lite-on is having a serial adapter, like the CK3 or Maximus.

Yeah I realized that after i did it i should know better, sorry.
All i have right now is a via sata card and i might try the solder, or the wire jumper. what more do i need or can i flash the lite on with what i have already. With 1.61 or 1.51, this drive has never been flashed.

Why can i not use just JF 1.60 to dump the flash and load the new software. Do i have to use a com port connector? Is this the only thing that will flash my lite on? Any help?

there is not v1.61
v1.6 is the firmware to use.

you can use iprep,jungle flasher or the 360 mod disc.

Will do going to download it and start reading tuts on it now, thanks man, looking forward to flashing it to play FO3. I will report back how it all went, mabye even a write up for tards like myself, this is a little different than ftaing.

Ok I do not have a probe or spear, about the screwdriver thing- do i jump the 707 across itself or do i jump it from one 707 to the hole, or just put a very thin screwdriver in the hole next to 707, the well all the instructions do not truly state where to put it??

if you are going to bridge the r707
then you dont mess with the hole
you put it on the 2 pads at the 707
or you can just solder across them if you are good doing that

Cool I will solder it thats easier, do it for a living, one last ? can i now send and recieve flash dump and flash program just using sata, and the 360 usb drive update, I can seem to find a good tut on the usb drive flasher.

after the first dump/flash

if you want to reflash with iprep
you will have to unsolder the r707 point and use a probe of some kind to dump next time.
but

once you have ixtreme 1.51 or up on the drive
then jungle flasher will dump it through the sata cable and you will not need a com cable or a usb hook to the cke

keeps on saying serial data is bad, i am not using a com port i am using a screwdriver to jump 707 and it keeps saying serial data is bad am i not jumping it or do i need a com port home kit made...HELP

If i solder the 707 together do i need to desolder it after i am done or no?

if i make the lite on dvdkey rs232 to ttl converter it does not show where the + 5v dc gets connected or does it, and are all these parts at ratshack.

Ok i made the ttl rs 232, where is the 5Vdc on the drive located, also do i solder all of it to the drive the flash it or get it half open ready, then solder it on? Any help?

you have to have it hook up with a ck3 of some kind
you will need a 9pin com cable for iprep
or
you can use a 9 pin com cable or a usb for jungle flasher
