Flashing Liteon with JF, can't get the key off...

As per the title, I've gotten a liteon flashed before. but have a problem this time. The drive shows up in JF, but when I try to get the key, I get the following:

Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0xEC00 and COM3

............
Failed to open com port COM3

DVDkey files extraction aborted!

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I tried to uninstall my via drivers, but then it won't work at all it seems and freezes. Anyone have a possible clue where I could be going wrong?

I'm not sure how much more detailed I can be but here goes. Once the drive is hooked up, I've been turning it on, then opening it. Then off, and closing to halfway. Then back on. From that point I've made sure JF has the correct drive selected in DVDKey 32, and then inserting my probe into the R707 hole. With it placed there, I then click the get key, create dummy bin...etc button. That leads me to the error message from the OP.

Try using a different USB port, or a different USB cable.

I don't have another cable available to test, but I bought it recently and have used it once with success. I did try 2 other ports, and continue to get the same message as before.

Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0xEC00 and COM3

............
Failed to open com port COM3

DVDkey files extraction aborted!

Edit:

I tried an older version of JF, the one that worked before, and rather than give me an error, it simply freezes when I attempt the same thing. Didn't know if that info would help or not.

what about using a 9 pin com cable
can you do that
that way you will know its com1 you should be on.

it sounds like you are on the wrong port

do you have a via driver installed on this pc

Thanks for the help, but I'm as stupid as I am, I found my very simple issue that I wanted to complicate. On my CK3, I had the mode switch apparently set wrong, and as soon as I switched it, everything worked fine.

Thanks so much for the help though, I really appreciated it.
