You can just disable network connections in Windows.

What operating system are you using on the computer that you do not want to give internet access while your kids are on it?

Well using Vista you can just go to "Network and Sharing Center" then click on "Manage Network Connections"

Then right click on the connection and select disable.

Then when your kids are finished on the computer, just right click on the same icon again and select enable.

Not too sure how to do that with Internet security software. (I suppose that it would really depend on the software itself)

If I want to do something like that from my own computer. I would do it through the Mac address filter settings in my router.

I can access these settings from my computer.

I can get into router by open ie and putting http://www.routerlogin.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

do you have a section in your router settings that deals with mac address filtering?

If so, then one of the addresses will belong to your computer and the other to your kids computer.

Just deny access to the one that you do not want to allow Internet access to.

Then when your kids are finished just allow access to that mac address again.

On my model of router (sweex) cheap assed router..........this can be done by ticking a checkbox beside each mac address to allow or deny internet access.

I run a D-Link and it has scheduling options as well which you can assign by either MAC address or IP address. Obviously I run static IPs to all of my devices.
