Hey guys. My xbox 360 came with a 20gb hard drive. I have seen videos on youtube of people buying internal hardrives and putting it in where the 20gb used to be. I have couple of questions.
1) What type of hardrives would fit in my original xbox 360 harddrive??
2) What additional steps would I need to do so my xbox 360 can recognize the new drive??
Thanks for the help.

Yeah Sadalius has a pretty good handle on things there. But TheSpecialist, you know the one who wrote the program that makes it possible for us to even attempt this released a new version of HDDHacker. And well it's a lot simpler to use. It's still DOS based and still requires that the only drive attached is the one you're either trying to dump or flash. He also added a few extra drive versions that can be used. All of them WD series. BEV, BEA,etc... 2.5" sata drives.

Basically just setup a usb stick like you would if you were flashing a drive, once iPrep says that the stick is ready, then open it up in Windows and just copy the whole HDDHacker folder over to the drive. Once you're booted up into "iPrep" there should be a command prompt in the bottom left hand corner. Type "cd .." this should take you to the root folder where your hddhacker folder is located. Or you can type "C:" and that should do the same thing. Once you're in the root folder, you can get a list of directories currently in your folder by typing "dir". You should see a "print out" of what's in the your current directory. Other directories are labeled as such. So your hddhacker folder should read:
HDDHackr -DIR-
Just type "cd HDDHackr", then again type "dir" to verify that all of your files are present. If so then you can continue on with the commands, which I believe are hddhackr -d to dump and -f to flash. Also I had to make four variations of the program in order for it to read the drive, with a hex editor you can edit the file to recognize different ports. I had to do one for every port on my board for this to work. At which point it was just a process of elimination in order to find out which one I needed to use all the time.

When I messed with the HDD's I always used the xecuter adapter. Never worried about taking the HDD apart, at least until I was ready to mount a new HDD in the case that is.
