Lite-on erase error.

I was flashing my Lite-on following Cofree's video using jungle flasher when my drive locked up after erasing. I went to the other video that he made for recovering my Lite-on using dosflash but my problem is that I cannot boot from a usb flash drive. My motherboard does not support it and I have the latest bios update. Is there any other way to boot from dosflash using a cd, dvd, etc.?

There is the Snowman's mod cd. It's suppose to work with everything but Hitachis so you might give it a try. Check out our downloads section here.

Is there a video tutorial to walk me through recovering my drive with this boot disk, or do I just go by cofree's video on using dosflash, or basic instinct?

It has a lot of the same commands as iPrep but I don't think it has l-o-eras.exe, but instead you want to just put your lite-on cfw that you made with JF (I'm assuming you've done this since your lite-on locked up) on there as well. And follow the steps up to the part where it tells you to read the firmware. I believe you can skip this step and go straight to the erase part. Then of course the writing comes next then you'll be asked what file you want to write. If you put the file on the cd with out putting it in a folder then all you need to type is C:\litecfw.bin where C:\ equals the drive letter assigned to your disc and litecfw.bin equals the name of that file. Hope this helps.

Ok, I downloaded the boot disk but my problem is that I have no place to put my key and my firmware on the boot disc. I read on xbox-scene that he has put the firmware's inside of the sectors of the ISO so no one can tamper with his disc. I never it would be this hard to flash a dvd-drive. Also, does anyone know what causes the drive to lock up after the erase using jungle flasher?

The lock ups are caused by the via drivers, these can be disabled to prevent any lock ups.

If you have a floppy drive you could use that. Alternatively you could boot to msdos from a cd (think Hirens does a one, google msdos startup cd's) then change the destination to your usb drive letter when your at the command prompt then typing dosflash etc.. Probably much easier to just use a friends pc which is capable of booting from usb though. Is there no option in your bios for booting from a removable drive as you may have to format the usb in FAT to get it to boot. (mine doesn't like FAT32)

No, unfortunately I have tried to format to fat, fat32..both of them will not load. My motherboard is really old and outdated. Thanks for all of the help everyone.

UPDATE: I messaged Frosty and asked him about this situation and he told me he would make me a personal disc. I emailed him my dummy.bin and he created the disc for me. Loaded it up, it was very very self explanatory but also came with step by step instructions on what to do. Anyways I have successfully flashed my lite-on drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only problem I am having now is that I have another lite-on drive and I deleted the via driver from its folder like you all said to do but when I erased my drive I once again got the lock-up problem. Here is my JF Log if anyone can tell the problem.

I am now having a new problem. =( I recently found out that I didn't actually need a via sata card because my on-board sata port is a nforce 3. But my problem now is that my drive still keeps locking up after the erase but it cant be the via drivers because I have the card completely disabled and also deleted the driver from the drivers folder. What could be the problem now? I never thought it would be this complicated just to mod the 360 but I guess I was wrong... .

Well not all motherboards chipsets are compatible, even if someone else says it worked for them that doesn't necessarily mean that it will for you. What OS are you using?

Xp, And my motherboard is a Asus K8n, Idk if that would help any but it might.

I would definitely use the VIA card, with the drivers disabled. Xp will automatically disable them in the device manager if you have deleted or renamed them in WIndows/System32/drivers. Also since you're having issues repeatedly then you're going have to continue using the mod cd or find a way to get your pc to boot via usb. Once JF locks up on a lite-on after a lite-on erase command is given JF will never recognize that drive again until it's been flashed successfully. In you bios check to see if your usb settings have a legacy mode or direct mode. Set it to that if you can. That should allow you to boot from usb, also check your boot properties like boot priority and order.

if it's locking up after the erase click intro again then power off/ back on and the click intro again and then flash it

I dont think any asus motherboards are compatible with flashing. Mine is an asus and it did not work... Its best to invest in the via card.
