Hi just a few months ago i used iprep 8.6 to flash my benq and i didn't use a connectivity kit. Recently trying to upgrade to 1.6 iprep is asking me to turn off the drive and open it half way. This is not possible unless you have a connectivity kit so my question is is there a work around? or do i have to buy the kit?

Hello, Welcome to Robin Hoods Playground,
You should not have to have the drive half open with a benq.
This is link to video tutorial that our leader Cofree put together
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=5129" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
you can get iprep and the ixdef file from our downloads section
viewtopic.php?f=112&t=48" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The ansa to your question is with a benq its possible to use the 360 to power the drive but make sure you ground the 360 to your pc case. But the ck3 is a very handy piece of kit cheap enogh as well.

You will need to follow the whole process as you need to extract your key and then have firmtoold make your Firmware. Follow the link to the tutorial that ive sent you.
