360 Drives: Information

Post by sccrbrandon4788 »

So I am going to flash an xbox for a friend of mine from work. He said it doesn't have HDMI but the drive looks like a Benq. Are there more tray styles for the hitachi and sammy that aren't shown? I looked at xbox-scene and they have the 3 comparisons but seems like the newer hitachi's and the older ones would be different, same with the ms25 and ms28 drives... I'm going to look tonight anyways but not for several more hours and I just want to get an idea of what I'm going to be messing with. Any pics of the different drives you have would be great!

the three are the only ones ive seen.it may be a v79 hit ive not seen one of them.i would think the drive tray would be the same for most if not all hit drives.
if it is a v79 that is going to be very hard to flash.
my brother is about to buy a new 360.if he gets a v79 he will be taking it back and picking up a different one.
im not going to learn the v79 untill there are a lot more of them around.

well i told him to eject it and look at the tray and he said there werent any holes, so it couldnt be the hitachi if they all have that hole on the right. he said it was just straight and round.... i didnt know the philips have been out over a month yet...

so would it be safe to say that the v1.1 fw wont be outdated for a little bit? i dont think he's going to have the hardware to do it himself... i could do it again but its a hassle.

i think they are working on a update firmware for the other dvd drives.they did just release the new sam v1.3 firmware with the 4 different speeds.i think the others will be soon to come.
i put fast (12x) on all mine so i would not care.its up to you.

yeah i saw 1.3 was out and was thinking, wow they just came out with 1.2c... so i guess v1.1 is save to use for a while till 1.2 comes out i guess lol. they should make the fw versions different for the different drives... like sammy's get 1.xx, hitachi's get 2.xx, benq gets 3.xx.... idk, sounds good to me though. Thanks!

Have a look at this for a better way to tell what brand of drive you are working with.
