I was able to flash a ms25 with my laptop using DOSFLASH but when I tried doing a ms28 with DOSFLASH as well, after it told me to send the vendor intro the drive status wouldn't go to the correct status it would just stay at 0x50. So I was unable to read/erase/write the banks on the ms28 although I was able to on the ms25.. Any help ? And I am only able to flash drives with my laptop using iPrep if I load my OS with a drive connected my laptop freezes, so I'm just glad I can do BenQ's and Sammy ms25.

I was still able to detect both drives though in the DOSFLASH. And they were both detected correctly. *Yes I tried with tray half open and with it fully open and fully closed.

LITE-ON FLASHING QUESTION

*Also, if my lite-on has been flashed before I don't need to get it's key and such with a spear right, I can just flash it in DOS like I would a BenQ / samsung ?* Type dLit ******* ***** --> Read over the instructions then click any key --> Find the device --> Hit yes for vendor intro --> Cycle Drive --> Select device number --> Type 'R' for read --> Type 'litofw.bin' --> Let it read the banks then make the custom firmware with Firmtool --> Type fLit ******* ***** --> Send vendor intro again --> Cycle drive once more --> Select device number --> Type 'W' for write --> Type 'litcfw.bin' --> It'll erase the banks and then write the new firmware and I'll be good correct ?*

Sounds good man, but right now you are the only one that I know of flashing drives with a laptop. So you're kind of on your own for this one. Not to mention that any lite-on with 1.5 or higher will dump the frimware through the sata port in Windows. I'm not sure if that's true for DOS or not though.

I was just trying to see if the ms25/ms28 had a difference in the stock firmwares or something, but it might have just been that one drive. And yea lol, I'm the only person that I know as well that can flash with a laptop :]

As far as I know the only difference between the ms25 and ms28 is the actuall hardware design. I think it has something to with how the spindle motor gets it's power. The cfw for the 25's and 28's are exactly the same so I wouldn't think firmware would be an issue.
