Dummy.bad/iPrep

Ive attempted to dump my liteon multiple times but i keep getting the same 6 files:
DUMMY.BAD, DUMMY.BIN, IDENTIFY.BIN, INQUIRY.BIN, KEY.BIN, AND LITCFW.BIN
I was suspicious of the DUMMY.BAD file, so i opened the actual Dummy.bin in JungleFlasher.
It detected it was missing info and asked to rebuild from barcode.
I dont want to brick the drive and not have a good dump.
Why would it be missing info and giving me the Dummy.bad?
iPrep says it was dumped successfully.
but JF disagrees.
I have 15 dumps from this liteon using 1 computer.
and 10 using another computer.
BOTH give me the same problem in every dump.
Using 2 different VIA card's, 2 different sata cables.
Also tried switching cards/cables.
One Vista 64bit with a second partition of 32bit.
and the other setup its XP 32 bit.
Same result.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Hmm....Are you using an RS232 cable or usb? It sounds like to me that the pc isn't getting the information correctly.

Yes i am using the RS232 cable.
So could replacing that cable fix it?
Is there anything else i could look for that might also back the idea that the RS232 cable is bad?

The drive has never been touched before.
It is directly from MS's repair shop in texas this month.

you could try a new cable. Try using Jungle Flasher. I use that and it works 98% of the time. The other 2% I get a half brick and have to use the other way. Watch this on the Jungle Flasher:

I actually tried that, but it wouldn't detect the drive.
It detected the USB com and the RS com saying it was the xtractor260.
But the I/O ports on the VIA card doesn't detect a drive.
I checked all the the I/O's for the drive, and check the I/O that iPrep used to get the .BAD dumps.
but it couldn't detect the drive.
Im not as familiar with JF as i am with iPrep, thats why i chose to use iprep.
But if i can find out why my drive wont be detected ill use JF.

Hi all.
xXxnottaxXx I think I am having a similar problem with a bran-spanking NEW XBox360 LiteOn Arcade that was bought at WalMart 06/25/09.
1st off, Thank you CoFree for all your video tutorials you have done a great job of giving a visual on the steps needed to do what we are doing.
xXxnottaxXx and who ever has the kind heart to help=-)
On my end it seems that I can only get a dump using JungleFlasher 0.1.26 (I was following CoFree's JungleFlasher .0.0.43 video Tutorial.) When I say that I got it to dump, I really mean partially. It seems that
Inquiry.bin -OK
Identify.bin -OK
Key.bin -OK
Dummy -Not OK, It gives me the error missing info message about the Dummy, (pictured on my link below) but when I exit out of JF.26 it leaves behind a Dummy.bin file that I don't trust. JF.26 is the only one that will leave a Dummy.
Here are my comments
and cry for help

->

don't know but maybe you may find something useful in my details.
Like you I don't want a bricked or .5 Bricked drive so aether I get some good advise that will lead me to a proper Dump or I am going to take this back to WalMart. I was real careful at lifting the 3 stickers on the XBox360 and just about burnt my hand on the blow dryer.
Please by all means let me know what you think.

OMG! FINALLY! IM NOT CRAZY AFTER ALL!
Someone help us!
Is it possible that somethings new with the drive?
Or a way to determine what exactly is missing?
@Ivrit007:
Did you try a different RS232 com cable?
Or were you only using USB?

No I dont think you are crazy. go here and read the bottom of my other post. I mention your comments there.
You may think I am crazy for the conspiratorial comments I made of Micro$oft

@Ivrit007:
Wonder what we have in common that could be causing it to not dump correctly?
1.) What Kit are you using? Im using the Xtractor360.
2.) And have you tried dumping using iPrep? JF doesnt recognize my drive.
@Anyone who can help:
3.) Does dumping/flashing a Samsung MS25/28 require the RS232 Com Cable to dump correctly?
>>>trying to rule out flawed hardware<<<
(I've tried 3 SATA Cables, same results. Not the SATA cable)
(i've tried 2 VIA cards and 4 Onboard SATA ports, ruling out the SATA connection to the computer)
(I've tried 2 computers and 3 OS's, not an OS or Computer based problem)
(I've also successfully Dumped and Flashed a Samsung MS25)
4.) Next time i have a sec, i would like to try using a previous version of iPrep.
Or can someone confirm that there is no difference from older versions and the current version?
EDIT: numbered for readability and easy direct answering.

1.) I am using the XECUTER CK3 Pro
2.) Yes I have tried dumping using iPrepv9 (the new one) and followed CoFree's video.
I also....
(I've tried 2 SATA Cables, same results.)
(I've tried 2 VIA cards and iPrep and JungleFlasher seen the DVD drive and my CK3 Pro just fine on the USB Port 1)
(I've tried 1 computer, but wondering if I should try my other PC)
(I've also successfully Dumped and Flashed a Arcade w/LiteOn (from GameStop) on this same Rig with no problem but this Walmart one is giving me a time)
heh, maybe Walmart works some kind of

evil

magic on their XBox360's that come in. LOL!........wait thats not funny
I think I may use what I Dumped and finish the procedure tomorrow.

Its not the Kit then, since we are using 2 different ones.

Evil Walmart! lol
My drive was replaced by MS's repair place in texas, so i doubt its only Walmart.

Ya, just joking about the Evil WalMart bit. But I have stated before: What if some XBox360's that we have bought where refurbished by Micro$oft and sold back to venders unknowingly to WalMart and/or us... Maybe this is why the PCB and OPT don't match up with the Dummy file on the Dump.
Also maybe along the assembly line certain parts like the PCB and Optical parts where already picked as ajoining parts but got mixed up with another set but the Firmware once all installed was expecting the original set.
The only way I think that could be found to hold any water would check an XBox-360 to make sure all the Labels are correct in the Dummy.bin and then go ahead and replace the OPTical component with a New one and run a check on that Dummy.bin again and see if you then have to edit in the New OPTs Label No.
I don't know who would want to go through all that, but that might give evidence to one of the two theories above on why the two of us are experiencing the same issue.
or.....
Im just a blithering Idiot and a bit mad
Ok before I Use what I have and continue the flash I am going to Install this VIA SATA card on MY Main Rig and see if I can get a proper dump. ONE LAST TIME!

aaahg!
I did another Dump, 2 of them actually. one with JF.43 and another with JF.1.26. The JF.1.26 allowed me to 'fix' my wrong serial numbers for my OPT/PCB and saved it where as the DSDBFixer would tell me too much information missing to save a fixed Dummy.bin
I have Both Dumps saved just in case.
Next...
Lite-On Erase, quick on/off and got the
72 status
"Drive returned Status 0x72
Manufacturer ID: 0x0
Device ID: 0x0
Flash Name: Unknown type
Flash Size: n/a"
Next, the final step...
Write.....?!! "Unknown flash type Write aborted !" ~WHAT!?~
huh.....help please?
