well the time has come when i have to send a console back to m/s (boo/hiss) luckily i used the serial to flash it but now it has e74 1 red light (error 1102) i have registered the console with ms &ups will be here in 2 days....
what i would like to know is ...
1, have you guys lost consoles when they have gone bk 2 m/s because the were flashed ?
2,the worst state of your returned xbox ?
3, have you ever put other parts not conected to that console in it to send back ?
my console is 6mnths old and looks brand new but im thinking of putting an old drive (hit reg10/07) in it the one that is in it is a lite-on reg 10/08 (i want to do this because that drive took ages to do and its new...
shud i ? have u ever done this ? im just about to take of the rrod fix 2 as thats not a m/s item

people have sent there console in with a flashed dvd drive and M$ has fixed the console with a error 74
but
i WOULD NOT send in a dvd drive that you just have sitting around.
that would just be to big of a chance imo
if they do see that it has been messed with they will send it back UNrepaired

Majority of people on the forums and not just this site have said they have done that kinda thing and its just been sent back un touched, But the question is do m$ charge you the shipping costs as its a modded 360?

I am pretty sure M$ checks the drive to make sure thats the correct one for the xbox. They also check the warranty seal, and might check the metallic tape?
There are lots of storys of people who send in modded xbox's and they get repaired. Others have story's where M$ detects the console has been tampered with, and they send it back.

i flashed a box for someone and they got the e74 error.
so thinkin like ms always does they just send you another one with your shell attached to it.
the guy wanted me to reflash the new box he got. it ended up being the same box.
so i didnt have to reflash him..
ms never checks the drive unless it is a drive issue

I dont mean the FW, im talking the drive type.
IE: the console should have a lite-on, but they open it and it has a BenQ.

Well I don't think certain systems are assigned drives unless they match it via serial number. Because I've opened brand new elites with everything but a lite-on. And then I'll see a pro 60gb with a lite-on or a ms25.

I think I read something about ms checks the serial, and it will list the a bunch of info, and the drive type was one of the things it listed.
I cant really remember but I think thats what I read. I may be wrong.

WELL it came back the other day un fixed with a note stating it had been tampered with or attempted tampering.
so i gathered all the nuts and washers i needed for e74 error fix, i fitted it (had to drill the case for bolts) and changed the gpu clamp, still not having it...so....im gona change the cpu clamp tomorrow just to see cos i have nowt to loose now and if that dont work its a pretty paperweight

I would dare say that if you left the original drive in it and all the stickers were intact, they'd of fixed it.

yeah man the seals were perfect i had even steam cleaned all dirty fingerprints of the metal inside, but the drive i thought was an odd 1 was actually the original drive from that console but it still had 1.4 hit cfw on it (my mistake) ...
i guess that they have a backup game just sat there ? its probably there first check

. the console went looking new the peckers ripped straight threw the seal and lost a couple of the rubber feet

all they did replace was the silver tape from the front of the drive that holds it 2 the case guess it dont matter anymore cos its DEAD 1red lite BOO HISS BOO
thank the (?) my elite still lives
