press and hold the sync button and press the eject button 4 times and take note of the sequence the lights flash

ie

press eject

4 lights flash

press eject

1 light

press eject

2 lights

4 lights = 0 =------- 1 light = 1 ---- 2 lights = 2 - 3 lights = 3
so your error code will be 4 digits then post back up with the code

0102 Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM), this is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the mainboard.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced

A friend of mine just got this the other day aswell, and when I looked it up I read something saying 1 main theory for this is a solder joint between the CPU or GPU has become lose. This can be caused by bad manufacturing or excessive rapid heating up, and cooling down of the console.

(same 2 fixes)

You mean to flash your drive back to the original FW? Doing that will not fix the 3 red lights. Your xbox has gotten hot enough that the motherboard has warped, and you now have the 3 red lights. Its just a coincidence it happened after you flashed the drive.

If you google xbox 360 red light fix you will come up with hundreds of guides on how to fix it. Most involve replacing the x clamps with screws. Some involve drilling a hole in your case, and fastening the mobo to the metal (has a higher rate of success) and some dont.

The hardware you need (screws washers etc) sell on ebay for about 5-10 canadian dollars, but if you like, in just about all the guides they specify what screws and washers you need, so you can take a look at your local HW store.
