LiteOn DG-16D2S rev 83850c Key Extraction tutorial

DO NOT USE THE SPEAR OR USBXTRACTOR ON THE 83850c IT WILL DAMAGE THE DRIVE & YOUR Xtractor / PC


You will need PortIO32 installed, the original LO83 tool set from foundmy.com and the freekey toolset as well. For this guide I used Maximus XtractorReader software with my CK3 pro.

1) install PortIO32.exe if running vista you may have to do this manually see the 83850c\manual_install\readme.txt
2) Connect your Liteon 83850c drive to your PC via SATA
3) Run Lo83info_32.exe (sata port) and follow the prompts. (example: Lo83info_32.exe C800)
4) A file will be saved with a drive unique name as a Dxxxxxxxxxx.bin in the same directory as your exe.
5) Use the cmd FreeKey.exe Dxxxxxxxxxx.bin (the generated bin file will need to be in the same location as FreeKey.exe) - by Germia & Maximus to decrypt the Dxxxxxxxxxx.bin generated by L083 and get your drives key.
6a) Install XtractorReader 2.9 and replace the EXE with this modified one (XtractorReaderLO83.rar), that allows you to read the Lite-On drive.
6b) Open XtractorReader.exe - and scan all ports to let it find your 83850c drive and make sure the tray is in half way mode - VERY IMPORTANT!



If your drive is not in halfway mode you could extract a bad key!

JUST CONNECT THE L83850C AND DO A “GET KEY AND FILES”

AFTER A FEW SECCONDS YOU WILL GET A MESSAGE SAYING “THINGS TO TRY…”

THAT MEANS IT CANNOT READ THE KEY AND OF COURSE IT CANT.

BUT AFTER THAT MESSAGE CLICK OK AND WILL ASK IF YOU WANT TO GET THE OTHER FILES THAT COULD HELP YOU IN CASE YOU HAVE YOUR KEY THERE

7) Once you get the files and SAVE them (in 3 places!)
8) Open JF 1.65b (download from jungleflasher.net)
9) Select TARGET source and get the ix16-lite838 file (get from xbins)
10) click on manual spoof, type your drive key there and load the inquiry.bin file
11) then follow standard write instructions from there for older liteon drives

Again, it is highly recommended you flash to a SPARE drive before overwriting your original!
