Lost Key
Awhile back I successfully installed the hakced 1.6 firmware with iprep. I had the original firmware on my computer just incase something happened. Something did actually happen... my xbox360 was not playing ANY games at all. Before realizing that my xbox could not play games, my operating system stopped working due to corrupt data from a microsoft update. I bought a new harddrive for my PC so that I could transfer all of my data from my old rive to the new one. But somehow... I forgot to transfer the original firmware... and... I wiped the drive...
So now I am stuck with an xbox that does not play games. I want to know if there is a way to get the old frimware for my xbox and have it work. I do not have a key since I wiped my old original firmware. Does this meen I have to buy a new drive? If so, what do I want to buy and where do I get it?

Re: Lost Key
Well, did you ever play games with your drive? Or did you flash it, then leave it then bought a new HDD and all that, then noticed your drive does not play games?
If you have played games with the drive after flashing, then its quite likely you can get the key from dumping the current FW on the drive.
If not, then you can try dumping the FW from the drive, and look for a good key, but its unlikely you will have a good key in it. I hate to say it but, without a key you cannot use your xbox, and you will need to buy a new one, a simple drive swap will not fix this.

Re: Lost Key
I have been able to play games in the past. Like you said, I flashed it, then left it, then tried it after I wiped my drive.
Edit* So I cannot just switch out the drive??? I have to buy a whole new xbox?

Ok, well hook the drive up to your computer, and dump it. There should be a good key in it. The only reason I can think of for it to not play any games would be a dirty/worn out laser. Open the drive up clean it, then try playing a game, it should work.
Does the drive play movies?

After I flashed the drive no games work but I will check now to see if movies do. I have an old samsung drive. Iv had it since 360 came out. Even if the firmware is messed up I can still get a good key? Im confused to this whole thing, sorry Im new.

Re: Lost Key
Ohh, after you flashed it nothing worked? In that case that means that you did not copy the key into the hacked firmware. DVD's should be the only thing to play in your console now.
If you dump the drive, you will not get the key, it will probably be all 0's or F's... Since you deleted the OFW from your computer, there is nothing you can really do...
Without the console/drive key, your xbox will never play another game. You will need to buy a new xbox...

Re: Lost Key
It always sucks when you do something like this, and wreck your xbox &/or your drive. I remember my first botched flash... It sucked
