I havn't opened & linked up my xbox drive for testing but I did whack the card in & fire up iprep.. I did a dsam xxxxxx xxxxx just to test if my card would show in the list but it doesn't! & there's no options in the bios to trigger it.
so no joy on that score!

need some card services that run in dos really. lookin slim tho :/

In regards to Slax, by default it disables PCMICA when it boots I think, I remember seeing it as it displays various commands (no PCMCIA i think it says). I know this can be modified, but I don't know how to change the Slax ISO to so do...

Have you checked in device manager to see that it is a VIA card installed?? Iprep might be useful because you can select (and test your own primary port) from your card.

the ones of us that are working on it are trying with a PCMICA.As you can see we are not having any luck,
If i was you i would not buy anything for a laptop to flash with, unless you are just trying things like the rest of us.

I have read that there are docking stations that have pci card slots in them, so it may be possible to install a standard via 6421 card in to use with your laptop. Just another option to look into.

those docks cost a fortune, I managed to find one I think....

One thing that has crossed my mind, is trying one with jungle flasher... If the problem is not having drivers for DOS for the card, why not try it in Windows??

Probably won't work like, just a thought...

Well, it might work in windows with jungleflasher. But it would be an expensive option for me to try. The laptop I have doesn't have a PCMCIA slot, it has a PCI-E slot or some funky new slot on it.

Just thought I would chime in here.
This is something that has been discussed in great deal over on xbox-scene, and apparently it IS confirmed working on laptops (of course, as everyone knows VIA only).

(Sorry if we aren't allowed to post outside links)

I was hoping to give it a test run, but I haven't had any luck finding a expresscard sata card featuring a via chipset, but for the rest of you that post might have some useful information.
